So much for "empathy."

Now, the President is backtracking against his own criteria for selecting the replacement for Justice Souter. In a conversation with Sen. Orrin Hatch, reported by Politico, the President claimed that he did not intend to mean that his primary criterion for selecting a Supreme Court Justice would be a capacity for judicial activism.
