I can't believe it is ready for the public! Many thanks to the Freepers who answered questions, read drafts, offered critiques. It belongs to you as well.

If you are interested in ordering a copy, please go to: Throw Away the Scabbard

Hey congrats!!!

I’ve got an idea for your next book...

“Throw Away the ‘Throw Away the Scabbard’ - What if Stonewall Jackson had survived Chancellorsville book had never been published.”

(I’m expecting royalties.)

Congrats on your book. What do you think of the other alternative history of the CW, wherein Lee goes west and relieves Vicksburg?

Just a heads up that the novel has been published. I want to thank you for all your help. It meant alot and helped me revise the manuscript until it was publishable.

Thanks again.

There’s little doubt that Stonewall Jackson would have pressed the action when the Yankees were fleeing to what became a remarkably strong defensive position. The Battle of Gettysburgh was lost early on when the Rebels lost that advantage.

That said, Longstreet was right when he counseled leaving the battlefield after Day 1. The Yankees had position and moving towards Washington DC would have forced them out of those positions.

I know that Lee loyalists (and I am a big fan of Marse Robert) will not like that analysis, but Longstreet was right. He was also a defensive warfare genius. (His tactics were widely used in WWI). At that point in time, the South needed to be in a defensive mindset.

I say this as a Northerner who is glad (relieved) the Union won.

Does your alternate history address what FReepers argue about in the alternate future after the Confederacy wins?

You spent alot of time with me answering a technical legal question. I just wanted you to know that you'll find your answer within the novel's pages.

Thanks for your help.

Very interesting. Have you considered one in which JEB Stuart isn’t off galavanting around and provides timely reports to Lee around the time of Gettysburg? That would be interesting also.

Congratulations!

If you ever feel like moving on into the 20th Century, a "what-if" would be interesting if Patton had never slapped that soldier in Sicily.
