You might not believe it, but there is a raging debate on the left about whether or not Sonia Sotomayor is REALLY the first Hispanic on the nation's highest court. After all, there was Benjamin Cardozo. But, the Daily Kos asks, does he really count? After all, some say he wasn't really Hispanic. He was of Portuguese ancestry... and a Jew.

Mainstream conservatives think the left’s fixation on race and gender is bizarre, but from the left’s standpoint it really isn't. Most conservatives today falsely believe that race and gender don't matter, so any fixation on those things is, to them, bizarre. But the left knows those things do matter, so it's not at all bizarre for them to fixate on those things.
What's bizarre is that conservatives can't figure it out. The left is using race and gender to deconstruct America, and using the “mainstream” right’s belief that race and gender don't matter to frighten the right into silence.

Umm not exactly. The left uses identity politics to create a majority. The right’s opposition to identity politics, and promotion of a color blind society, is castigated as racist.
What the right needs to do is attract more single females to win next time. We don’t need to pander to blacks or hispanics.

The rights opposition to identity politics, and promotion of a color blind society, is castigated as racist. That's true, but the right made a mistake to ever believe there could be a color blind society in the first place.
