Limbaugh: Palin Might Leave GOP For Third Party
Right Side News ^ | 7/15/09 | the DailyBell.com

Posted on 07/15/2009 6:46:08 PM PDT by Rodebrecht

There's growing speculation from former aids, political journalists, and even Rush Limbaugh himself that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is considering forming a third party alternative for conservatives. Palin, the former GOP vice presidential nominee who stunned the political world by resigning as governor two weeks ago with 18 months left in her term, also posted a link to a column speculating about such a move on her Facebook page. Two articles, one from conservative writer Tammy Bruce, the other from The Washington Times, suggest she may be considering leaving the Republican Party to form a third party alternative.

Radio show host Rush Limbaugh said Palin may leave the GOP and form her own because Republicans have "been just as mean-spirited to her as the Democrats" have. "When I watched her speech when she announced she was going to leave the governorship of Alaska, I didn't hear the word Republican mentioned once," Limbaugh said. - NewsMax

Flaky Article.

Libertarian Republicans?

Did Rush really say or did he just address a small possibility?

...and based on my experiance he’s right....I voted for Perot like millions of others....all that did was put Clinton in the White House.

...you're preaching to the choir, Sarah Palin moved my wife and I to misty eyes twice...no one else has done that since Magnus: my issues are ending abortion, gun rights (to throw off tyranny), reasonable immigration hopefully from folks more likely to assimilate and share our ...

Well, I'm glad we are on the same side. We had so much in fighting in 2008, that I feel like a REAL minority in every sense.

I'm afraid I don't master the issues as much as you do. I am not good at details, but I hava a general 'sense' of where things are going politically speaking.

Will the GOP win the next election?????.... Frankly I doubt it. We lost a lot of people during the last 8 years. There was a time when the Republican Party seemed to have a good image. I think that is gone... for many reasons. The point is, I believe in the theory of the Pendulum... it swings back and forth... and I am afraid it will take some time before the pendulum swings back in favor of the Republicans.

If the party abandoms all stands on moral issues, then I don't know what will actually happen to this party. I know that it would not be MY party anymore... But the problem is where do we social-go?... I simply can not call myself a DEMOCRAT, even if I voted for it. So, there has to be a another choice.

So far, we are trying, conservatives, you and I, since we are on the same side to shape it so that it will be BETTER than the Democrats, but let's not forget, a lot of people - or so it seems - do not agree with us.

There MUST be another choice, a REAL "Conservative-party" on all issues: monetary and moral issues. One that perhaps will attract conservative-democrats that don't feel confortable with the party's stands on social issues.

Lastly, I am NOT saying.. LET'S BRAKE UP AT ALL COST!.. No... But, let's keep our minds open. Obviously a social-conservative party, would be part of the Republican party, because we also identify with other issues (small gov't, gun rights, etc), but we would not be taken for GRANTED anymore. Ok, I could ramble a lot more and I probably would never finish, so that is all for now.

Let me ask you? What would be so terrible if we created a Third party? The "Social-Conservative" ?:).. Right off the bat we are saying: We care for the culture, including the right of the MILITARY to be free of homos distracting them when their life if on the line. Like the boys-scouts, the MIlitary is NEXT on their list... CAN YOU PICTURE IT?.... Yuchhh... Oh..ok, enough for now :). Take care

Well, I guess I march to the beat of a different drum.

Bite me once and I’ll get over it, bite me again.....well let’s just say.

See ya.

Yes, that is partially true (though they are not wonderfully conservative, constitutional and perfect). But they fail because they desire to be seperate - they each have their own little pet cause to aspouse and at the end of the day their leadership is content to bask in what little admiration they get - it fulfills their egos and that is all they really exist for anyway.

A dynamic and honest leader with a sincere desire to change the course of our nation, supported by a fed-up populous, will result in a successful new party (perot proved this to some extent, but he pulled back). Whether it is a “third, fourth or 50th party” does not matter. What matters is that it comes in first on election day. And that is a goal that is achievable for a new party dedicated to the Constitution and that puts forth an effective nationwide marketing campaign but not by the current Republican power structure.

I stand by my statement: the Republican Party is dead and little lindsay is nailing the coffin lid shut for them.

So you look at the voters and you decide that the way to defeat Obama’s liberal 53% is for a few conservatives to form their own little party?

I think Obama and his 53% of the votes would love that, just as much as we would love for unmarried moms or some other large liberal group to leave the democrat party and carry themselves off into the third party world of irrelevance.

Here we go again, if she does and there is no run off between the two top parties in the election, its futile. The Dems will never go for a run off, you can bet on it. See 1992 election results.

Yup. PLEASE, Sarah... don't do this!

Rush said the same yesterday btw... Sarah: Don't do it!

This is what Huckabee was talking about as well. Everytime a 3rd party or indy runs in an election the GOP loses like in MN that gave us Franken or Perot who gave us Clinton even if the Perot voters will never admit he had a hand in giving us Bill Clinton.

You are so right. This talk of 3rd Party by Palin needs stopped by her now or I know a lot of people about ready to pull support and look elsewhere. We have an election in 2010 that is vitally important to slow down the juggernaut and the last thing we need is Palin flirting with an Indy/3rd Party run.

Including me. I will never understand why so many on this forum think the way to go is to waste their vote on a third party candidate that will never win...

I am getting a little sick and tird of the complaints about how she was treated by the GOP (whoever that was) because the base of the GOP could not have been more supportive of Sarah and whatever anyone thinks of McCain, he gave her a chance to be on the National stage.

If you cannot take the heat of a few elitist of the GOP, then you have no business running for national office. Dr. Tom Coburn went up against the Establishment GOP, took all kinds of heat including from Speaker Hastert, and he kept right on going and won the Senate race going away.

I hate the I am taking my ball and going home because everyone doesn’t love me BS and that is exactly what I see going on right now by people trying to push her to the 3rd party. Attacks — not even close to what I have seen some of other candidates over the years have gone through. The media is a pain in the neck but so what they have been that for years and you didn’t see Reagan out campaigning for Dems.

She needs to get out in front of this now and stop this crap.

I have never understood the 3rd party mentality of entering a race you know you are going to lose and give the win to the DemocRATs. That makes NO sense and never has. Often wonder how many are really Dems pushing 3rd parties on here.

Sarah needs to speak up NOW.

I wasn't aware she was running for national office.

She wants the party to live up to its own principles, the conservative principles that are the foundation of the party. I see nothing wrong with that.

All this 3rd party stuff is just talk, and it's not coming from her.

She needs to get out in front of this now and stop this crap.

No she doesn't. She's done nothing to promote this "crap".

The problem is that she gave an interview to the Wash Times and should have been careful what she was saying because that is what led to all of this. That’s why I said she needed to say anything because letting this stand is not working.

We need to be concentrating on 2010 and not be worried about 2012.

Huckabee came out and asked her to stay in the GOP and now Rush is saying things. It is not good.

The problem is that she gave an interview to the Wash Times and should have been careful what she was saying...

I think she was very careful in what she said to the Washington Times and it's nothing she hasn't said before as far as wanting the party to live up to its own ideals. She said she was going to stump for conservative candidates wherever she found them. That's ALL she said.

If others in the GOP have a problem with that, it's their problem, not hers. JMO.

Look, I'm not a 3rd party advocate and having watched this lady very carefully over the last year, I'm confidant she isn't either. She's no fool.

This isn't her problem, it's the GOP's problem. She's been very consistent in what she's been saying. 9 months ago she said virtually the same thing to Fred Barnes for an article he wrote before the election. I've quoted it before so I won't here.

I respect your feelings, but your concern should be directed to the party, not to Sarah Palin. Unless, of course, you put party over principle.

Is this your brilliant idea?
