Ammo can be broken into individual cartridges for use as change.

There ain't much you can trade a gold bar for, and what would your receive in change.

Yep. I agree. Ammo would be more valuable you can't make change from a Bar of Gold or a Krugerrand.

But ammo - its like money: (examples)

• Coins = Pistol ammo: .22LR, .38spcl, .357, .45ACP, 9mm, 10mm, 40 S&W
• Bills = Rile rounds: 30-30, .308, 7.62x39, .223 Rem (5.56x45 Nato)

Naturally other calibers would have value too:

• Pistol = .25 auto, .32 auto, 9mm Makarov (9x18), .357 sig, .44 spcl, .45LC, 7.62x25 Tokarev
• Rifle = 303 Brit, 32-20 Win, 44-40, 45-70 Gvmnt, 7.62x65R, and mine --> 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm) :-)

Plus you can't hunt or defend yourself with Gold.
