27 Anti Gun Groups Beg Obama to Ban FN Herstal 5.7 Handguns

Proving the validity of the “Law of Unintended Consequences again,” Anti gun groups are unwittingly helping to boost the sales of the FN Herstal 5.7 pistol, its ammunition, and high capacity magazines, by asking Obama for an import ban on them.

The events of the last 13 months have shown what happens to gun, magazines, and ammunition sales when Americans have good reason to fear draconian changes in our gun laws.

Never failing to further their agendas by using tragedy, 27 anti gun groups have joined together to blame the gun, the ammunition, and the high capacity magazines for the Fort Hood killings. Never mind the mass of evidence that points to the fact that Hasan is a fanatic, Muslim lunatic, and a murdering, Jihadist. Never mind the fact that Hasan was, by all appearances, on a mission "for God" to kill.

Never mind that he probably would have loved to have done the killings with a more traditional Muslim Scimitar, lopping off heads in the Sharia way, or would have used any other weapon he could lay hands on...if he didn't have a FN handgun. Mass murders have been done in Asia with knives.

Never mind the fact that all of his victims were helpless, were unarmed, were in a “gun free zone”...

Never mind that, except for the M.Ps, the entrance guards, and during training, loaded guns are absolutely prohibited on the base.

Never mind that murder and assault are against the law.

Never mind that Hasan knew he would face the death penalty for his murders, if he survived, but preferred his “72 virgins.”

This group has written the following letter to President Obama, asking him to ban further importation of the FN Herstal 5.7, the pistol used by Major Hasan at Ft. Hood...

Here's the letter....

I have to admit, I’m now toying with the idea of adding an FN Five Seven to my collection.

So, Hasan wouldn’t have gone on a murderous rampage if the this pistol had been banned beforehand?

I think this issue may open some moderate eyes.

The anti-gun groups want to ban firearms from being purchased by an army Major.

There are 27 Anti-Gun groups? Geez, and I suppose each and every one gets some of my hard earned tax dollars.

Very interesting weapon. I’m going to see if I can find one in town and take a look.

Knee-jerk reaction... He could just as easily used a Browning Hi-Power with a 30 round magazine. 30 round mags can be had for as little as $17.

There are dozens of them for sale right now at www.gunbroker.com, and the prices don't seem to be going up. It will be an entirely different matter if there's a realistic threat of legislation restricting imports.

If I didn’t live in CA, I could get 33 round mags for my Glock.

The Five Seven is ugly, overly large for most hands, and shoots a round that is expensive, and a poor man-stopper.

I’m glad I own one.

Also, there are likely many of the 30 rounded who would not have survived the Ft. Hood massacre had the shooter been shooting a typical pistol round.

While we both know he would have, he probably would have chosen a handgun which chambered a more powerful cartridge (say, a Glock 9mm/40/45). This would almost certainly have resulted in more deaths...so I'm glad he used a .22!

Once again, evil people with an evil agenda try to blame the weapon rather than the man.
If anything, they need to ban Muslims, not the FN FiveseveN.

Legislation not being requested...They want Obama to do it by Executive Order....

I'm doubtful that he would do such a thing before the 2010 elections. After that, all bets are off.

Get this whopper from the "letter":

In fact, the gun is one of the most popular with traffickers supplying Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) who have nicknamed the gun the “mata policia” or “cop killer.”

27 anti-gun groups

27 words: A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

In any sane judicial system, the 27 words win. In the absence of the rule of law, those who exercise their God-given Second Amendment rights still win.

2009 was a good year for gun sales. Let's see what 2010 will bring.
