There's a trend emerging in American politics. I don't think it's a new one, but it's growth is disturbing to me. And it's the amazing hostility to the common people.

The elite class in DC sees this as their only chance to create their vision of the perfect world (i.e. global communism) and they aren’t going to let the ignorant people ruin it by getting cold feet when they are so close.
Americans need to cut of congress credit card. Stop work all over the country for 2 days would do it....No trucks running, no banks open, grocery stores closed....yep.
Why should they stop; the public have proven their ignorance and enjoy Government Control including education, healthcare and provided privileges
I think that problem has now been fixed.
Even if it’s zero percent is it not better then feeding the monster?
I don't know what it's going take but unless we find some way to take back what is being taken from day after day, Congress after Congress, it's going to be too late.
Frankly, if Obama and Congress haven't aroused enough anger by now to bring about a change it might already be too late.
11 more months, then throw the bums out. The problem becomes getting the new flock to do any better. There has to be some way to make these bums accountable to the voters.
Don’t ever read a Froma Harrop column. She constantly refers to ‘average Americans’ with an almost-audible sneer.
I believe their ultimate goal is collapse. No work for two days, adjusting withholding and other economic ideas will only help to advance thier agenda. Their not concerend with unemployment, debt, the economy, your family, your job, your health, your future. All they want is a place at the elitist table when the sh## hits the fan and to be able to craft a new American utopia with out you!
For far too long, the only people with “the right to protest” have been those on the hard left.
Seeing “regular people” protesting freaked out the political class.
Remember how “SanFranNan” labeled the people with their hand made signs as “astroturf,” i.e. “manufactured protests,” while those on the left would carry professionally printed signage, courtesy of SEIU or George Soros... Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

I'd suggest talking to a CPA or tax attorney before doing this... Writing a check on 4/15 is a good way to get hammered by the IRS. Depending on the level of taxation you're at, you may have to make quarterly estimated tax payments to the IRS.

If I recall Marie Antoinette's mistake, last time, it worked out as the elites deserved.
The attitude of politicians and much of the news media to the public is a real source of annoyance. The public’s patience with this attitude has been worn out.
re: There has to be some way to make these bums accountable to the voters
Amen! I suspect that first election after the one that gets them there is by far the best bet to make them toe the line. When they’ve been there five or more terms they are too entrenched, have too many chits call in. OTOH, if they’ve been there less less than two years, six for senators, they are still pretty vulnerable. Got go after them right then, make sure they understand they’ll loose their teat at government sow if they don’t do as they promised!
Now for the first time in our nation's political history we have a communicative tool powerful enough to replace the function of a free press. All we have to do is use it properly.
I am not saying it would be easy to design a twenty-million member website that will give each member a voice, allow all to speak and all to be accurately heard, but it can be done. Once twenty million people voice an opinion, let's say on the final adoption of health care proposal, any politician voting against this voice would surly face much stronger opposition at the next election time. It's just that simple.
Of course the devil would be in the details, but, basically, all we need do is create a website that will accurately count each vote cast and allow each voting member to actually see where their vote was counted.

While others may call for a march on Washington, or a rally on main street from time to time, putting our voices together and speaking as one through the internet is all we really need to do. We now have the tool with which to achieve this goal. All we need to do is use it.

If this current situation isnt enough to encourage the voters to strap on some balls and clean house, then we better start loading the old shotgun, cause the crap is going to hit the fan.
