Those tingles up his leg that MSNBC talker Chris Matthews gets from President Barack Obama (D) have apparently zapped Matthews' brain. Analyzing Obama's speech at West Point last night with Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann, Matthews observed
"It seems like in this case, there isn't a lot of excitement. I watched the cadets, they were young kids - men and women who were committed to serving their country professionally it must be said, as officers. And, I didn't see much excitement. But among the older people there, I saw, if not resentment, skepticism. I didn't see a lot of warmth in that crowd out there. The president chose to address tonight and I thought it was interesting. He went to maybe the enemy camp tonight to make his case. I mean, that's where Paul Wolfowitz used to write speeches for, back in the old Bush days. That's where he went to rabble rouse the 'we're going to democratize the world' campaign back in '02. So, I thought it was a strange venue."
So Matthews believes West Point, the first American military academy, is the "enemy camp" and "a strange venue" for their Commander in Chief, the President of the United States, to announce to the country and more specifically to the student and faculty audience who will be directly affected, his plans to increase troop levels in Afghanistan.

Matthews has completely lost his friggin’ mind.
Why? I personally (have not seen the speech) think that the reaction is exactly like Mathews is saying..shows that the future of the military is not drinking the kool-aid.
He called West Point the enemy’s nest.
‘The lack of excitement’ might have to do with the cadets knowing they are being sold a bill of goods.
Chris Matthews called West Point the "enemy camp"?
And yet the media calls conservative commentators names such as "divisive" and "controversial".
Can we start slightly altering our posts to add a (D) beside these liberal pundits names? Like the way it has a (D) by Obama or and (R) beside every republican? Chris Matthews (D)
Sorry, my bad. It’s unfortunate that those phrases coming from the left no longer set off alarm bells like they used to. I bypassed that and automatically assumed the author was referring to the reaction as opposed to the ridiculous statement.
Chrissy has a brain?
I disagree.
And, I didn't see much excitement. But among the older people there, I saw, if not resentment, skepticism. I didn't see a lot of warmth in that crowd out there. The president chose to address tonight and I thought it was interesting. He went to maybe the enemy camp tonight to make his case.
It looks like to me that Mathews, for once, got it right. He said...
Later and even more ridiculous after FOX News played Matthews’ initial comments on their air, Matthews comes back and mentions “that other network” aired his comments on the West Point Cadets and then proceeds to blame Bush and Cheney for his verbal foul-up.
Calling West Point a “camp” and the West Point Cadets the “enemy”..... Real slick.
in Matthews case the (D) stands for Dimwit
Makes sense that he would believe West Point was the enemy.
Chris Matthews doesn’t really take any of this seriously. This is all a political board-game to him where the goal is to advance Liberalism. These Cadets are seeing the first 10 years of their careers being mapped out during Obama’s speech. This is serious business.
Does the ‘confidence-factor’ figure in here? Absolutely, but these cadets were cautioned beforehand to display the proper decorum. An outsider like Chris Matthews not going to be able to read much from watching their expressions because he doesn’t think like they do.
Chris looked at those facea and did not see adotrion for his messiah.
The rest of us looked at those faces and saw men and women who know this potus will order them to Afghanistan and for his “strategy” and under his “ROE”, they face their own deaths and those of the men and women under their command
“For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “Chuck him out, the brute!”
But it’s “Saviour of ‘is country,” when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
But Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool - you bet that Tommy sees!”

“... West Point is a military academy with some of the finest “young kids” in the nation, serious people with an important mission; not an evil institution where presidents and others go “to rabble rouse the ‘ we’re going to democratize the world’ “ rah! rah crowd! But you wouldn’t know the difference.”
Number one:
I said previously that “O” has not a clue about the history or traditions of the US or its national character, and his perception on West Point (one of the premier of not THE premier military academy on earth) further dramatizes this. O has a blind spot a mile wide when it comes to the actual and every-day AMERICA because he has swallowed the MSM and old Europe hatred for the U.S.
Number two:
Matthews cashed in his news journalism credentials waaaayy back when he openly salivated over one Presidential candidate over and above another. Never mind which candidate Matthews permitted himself to become so idiotically, repeatedly and publically besotted with . He broke the first and foremost rule of proper and respectable news reporting, sullied his own personal and professional persona and forfeited his status as objective observer the day he took his very public and biased stand on that one.
Keep those words out in public. They are some of the truest worst CM ever spoke.
