Iran's nuclear weapons program is about so much more than destroying the "Zionist Entity." Iran wants to be a super power on the scale of the United States. Iraq acts like a super power feeding little satellite countries like Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Bolivia, Senegal, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.

Nothing makes Iran happier than tweaking at the United States because its leadership feels that once it develops nuclear weapons Iran will be on par with the evil Satan, the USA.

In September 2008, Iranian Elite forces took charge of the Strait of Hormuz. If they close the Strait, they stop 30% of the world's Oil Supply.

"We are capable of blockading the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and whoever does not believe this should ... see what happens in reality," Navy Commander Admiral Habibollah Sayari told IRNA news agency.

Admiral Sayari further told IRNA any aggressor should not forget that 2 000 kilometres of the Persian Gulf coast belonged to Iran, making the country capable of taking various initiatives

The Straits won’t be blocked by warships, but by steaming hulks of melted metal that used to be Iranian warships.

Too bad we don’t have a leader with a set of brass ones, else their response would have been:
“So, we are capable of turning your country into a glass parking lot, if you don’t believe me continue in your ways and you will see a dose of reality”

I can dream can’t I?

Amen. Very few people remember the tanker war under Reagan where the Iranian Navy was reduced by half in an afternoon.

That was carried out by a president who wasn’t a Muslim sympathizer.

Bring it on Iran. I always wanted to be able to say; “Looks like we have another War, A Gut Busting, Mother Loving, Navy War.”

All they can produce is speedboats that harass our ship and kidnap British sailors.

The situation is bound to get "interesting". Iran is busy picking up allies who, for the most part, are more interested in power and ideology than economy. Chavez repeatedly moves to intentionally damage his own economy in pursuit of the Marxist ideal. North Korea, Burma, Various African nations, and even Brazil and Argentina may just hate the West enough to go along. Russia would benefit as would China's military (The Chinese economy would however tank so you can't automatically assume China's compliance).

I don't believe O would do anything but blather and dither. He would condemn and obstruct any Israeli response. (note: I really think the troop surge in Afghanistan is nothing more than a negotiating ploy.)

OK, I likely need the help of mental health professional, but that is how I see it.

Warships? Nope... Chinese missiles are what would be used for the blockade. We will lose a few ships, but then Iran would only be fit for bomb disposal exercises.

yeah, the more I read the more I realized the missles would be land based. Until they were blown up. Then they would be air based for a few seconds. Then land based again.
