The Angry Breakfast Group
From Sea To Shining Sea ^ | 2/20/09 | PurpleMountains

We have a small group of retired men who meet for breakfast from time to time – mostly to talk politics. Most of us are conservative, but we do have one liberal member, and our talks are usually spirited. I have noticed these past few months that we have stopped talking about politics almost entirely, and I think I know the reason: we are all so angry that we are afraid that we will say something to our liberal friend that will destroy our friendships forever. Since the election of Barack Obama, new outrages have come at us every day, from the porkulus bill - to the apologies for our great nation's keeping of the world peace – to the czars consisting of 9/11 truthers, communists and a guy trying to promote homosexual practices in our school-children. I can only scratch the surface here; Obama keeps insulting our closest ally because of slights received in his childhood, double-crossed Poland and the Czech Republic, showed what a narrow-minded bigot he is in the Crowley-Gates affair, and bowed to every dictator he comes across. I'm not even getting into the industry and freedom-destroying Cap & Trade and Obamacare legislation he is pushing. We are all incredibly angry, and frightened by our own thoughts.

People who realize what Obama is, and what he and the democrats are doing, are seething in anger and frustration over what to do to stop this.

Sounds like your breakfast gatherings are including
a big elephant in the room.
You seem like a nice man concerned about your liberal
friend, and that’s good. But everyone needs to talk, you
may be surprised when your liberal friend starts to agree
with you. Don’t let fear ever stop you from what needs to
take place. Good Luck.

The fascists have won the vote and don't even have a Paul von Hindenburg standing in their way. The Reich's chancellor is about to take the stage and demand perfect obedience.

I suspect a few partisans remain. I hope so.

This same thing is playing out all over the country! We have the same thing here in Cherokee County. Some folks have changed their breakfast habits because we can't talk about politics anymore. People that have been friends for years and years now seldom speak to each other.

Funny, we used to let them beat up on Bush but now the shoe is on the other foot we become racists.

Yuor grasp of history is excellent. Can the ‘Enabling Acts’ be looming in our future? That’s basically what 0bamacare, ‘net neuutrality’ and Crap and Tax are all about.

There’s only one way this can end.

But does the American people of the stomach for it or will they just fall in line with the rest of the net receivers on government handouts. I pray they do.

I believe that the pro-OBH libs really have no sense of humor, and they’re feeling very defensive about his total lack of bipartisanship or friendliness toward political challengers.

Recall how Reagan was a great personal friend to Tip O’Neil. Remember how we all could laugh at W’s oratory. Nobody is allowed to laugh at OBH, and his supporters are quite vitriolic.

“we are all so angry that we are afraid that we will say something to our liberal friend that will destroy our friendships forever.”

OK - with all due respect, the very viability of the greatest nation on earth is at stake and you are worried about a friendship with a liberal? Understandable on the human relationship side, but in the bigger picture, absolutely insignificant. We are in an undeclared war for the soul and spirit of this country. And we have the most liberal President and Congress in history. That is what we are fighting, and your friend has apparently decided that freedom-stealing government is better that personal liberty. By definition, and not by intention, his feelings will and should be hurt.

Much of the problem is America today is because 10 good men are afraid to speak for fear of offending one. Friends can reconcile differences because of other personal bonds. But enemies will tear down friendships for self serving personal gain, and power.

But speaking up is exactly what civil war requires. Neighbors and friends, when unable to compromise and co-exist start eminating civil rights to control the dialogue, despite their position of being clearly in the minority of philosophy.

I just cannot bring myself to associate with liberals.
Anyone who enables the commies push for controlling my liberty is not a friend. If they don’t like what I say they have the freedom to move on, step aside, and get out of my way. Freedom is also choosing my friends and enemies.

I don’t have lib freinds anymore. Being a govt/gaia whoreshipping leftist lib who backs (even if just ideologically) the ruin of our free nation and being my friend are mutually exclusive. Period.

I have no liberal “friends”. I used to, but the stakes are now too high. My former liberal friends are destroying my nation, and denying my freedom. They are propagating tyranny, even if not intentionally. They are no friends to me.

The battle lines are drawn.

Obama is using the democratic machine to pass impossible bills. Obama is hoping for an uprising of the citizenry, so he can declare martial law. The democrat politicians do not even see how they are being used. Obama welcomes citizens’ anger. The anger reflects his success in ruining our country.

Many of my conservative friends were too scared to pay attention, refused to stay abreast of what was happening (don’t tell me — it upsets me too much. wah.) Lambs to the slaughter.

I’ve not only lost respect for them, I’m pissed ! Just because they want to bury their head in the sand shouldn’t mean that those who stayed alert and active have to suffer the consequences that they helped create.

They rank with Obama worshippers. The outcome is the same.

Bingo.

I don't see "liberals". I see collaborators, traitors, and acquiessing cowards.

I see convicts-in-waiting.

If they're lucky.

I hear that! Here in commie central, L.A., there are so few who are not Obama administration fans, that I’ve lost most friends and relatives in all of this — I speak to virtually no one except FReepers here and like-minded people at Tea Party events, etc.

Neighbors are aghast at my “Don’t Tread on Me” bumperstickers and such. And heavens, I have a flag on my front porch. ONLY far right wackos like us do THAT around here.

I really think I need to move to a red state — just can’t stand it anymore.................

Texas. Now.

Best economy in America, and outside of the major cities, an outstanding culture of self-reliance and FTG ("Forget" The Government).

Besides, best to get here before we secede and close the borders with the Collective States of Amerika.

My frustration is with all the Conservatives who are dropping out. That is, they have been burned so often by the get-along Republicans, they have had it and will vote Republican no more. They are deep conservatives, and are now dedicated 3rd party voters because they are convinced there is no difference between the parties. I try and show them how not a single Republican Senator has voted for health care, but they don’t listen.

They think the Dems are crashing us in the wall at 120mph and the Republicans are crashing us in the wall at 90mph. They are DONE voting republican.

How do we win without them and how do we get them back? If the Republicans actually became a conservative party, I am sure these furious conservatives would come back to support conservatives, but until they see some real conservative governance from Republican politicians and leaders, they are dedicated 3rd party voters.

The Republicans have dug themselves a deep hole by being Democrat lite and they risk destroying the Republican party. I still hold my nose and vote “R” because the socialist Democratic alternative is intolerable, but we have lost a couple of million conservative voters who are fed up, have had it and are NOT going to be voting for Republicans anymore.

FWIW, some of these would vote for Palin if she ran as a Republican, but they would be only too happy to see her run 3rd party. Of course, she would then lose.
