The President is twisting arms, for instance, me, for the second time in my eighteen year career, I was asked last week if I wanted to go watch the Russian Opera and I could sit in the President’s Box at the Kennedy Center.

The Blue Dogs were taken down to the White House, and Obama told them to vote for his health care plan. I’m not a Blue Dog, I’ve always been accused of being a Blue Dog, but I’m not a Blue Dog.

Tawas is a nice town. Kind of touristry right on the shores of Lake Huron. Lots of memories of playing on their municipal beach when I was a kid.

It’s totally dead until the tourists come. The lake was beautiful Monday night though.

Q6- When it comes down to the Senate bill and reconciliation, if your abortion language is not in it, are you gonna stick to your guns?

Stupak - Yeah, I’ll stick to my guns, but,..um, it’ll be worked out. We’ll get it worked out, we had it worked out before you ever heard of the Stupak Amendment, it was worked out and then they reneged on it.

I’m taking the position that we’ve not had public funding for abortion, the President said on either September 8th or 9th, that there will be no federal dollars for abortion, let’s keep it that way.

No one can say I’m expanding it, no one can say I’m restricting it, let’s keep current law.

Yes, my husband and I left in disgust, he wants the health care bill so bad, abortion really doesn’t mean much to him.

Call his office anyway. They keep track of the tallies. Have your friends and relatives do so as well.

The House-Senate parlimentarians will be ruling this week as to whether the House can even proceed to reconciliation without the House passing the Senate bill as-is and then having the president sign the bill into law. Senator Conrad supports this belief.

If this is the ruling, then there is no sidecar, no tiebar, and I don’t see how Pelosi can get the Senate bill thru the House with all its corruption. Game over.

I believe Stupak is trying to give his leadership some room to maneuver, but my guess is that most members don’t want any votes on this — in either chamber — everyone is looking for an escape hatch and scapegoat.

I do agree that Stupak sounded like jello — at best.

He told his constituents several months ago that he would vote for final passage even if it did not include the Hyde language (not *his* amendment), he whined to them, "Well, we tried ..." -- this is no surprise whatever and why I have been telling people not to put their effort into having him vote nay, work on the other pro-life Dems who have not already demonstrated they have no real conscience or principles.

I am glad, though, that he decries the Blue Dog label -- I wish more people understood what a Blue Dog Democrat is, they are not pro-life Dems or conservative Dems from blue states, they are, as Charlie Stenholm explained when the moniker was coined, Yellow Dog Democrats who have been choked.

Yup. And did you notice the reference to the ‘placeholder’ bill that Obama has sitting in Congress? that is how they are going to, IN SECRET merge the bills and attach it to the placeholder and voila! We have socialized medicine!

Is not the offering of something of value in exchange for a government official’s action called....a BRIBE?

I think I learned somewhere that is is illegal, unless the education system taught me wrong.

Article I Section 8 says if the majority of people come together for the general welfare of the country, (arguing) look, you won’t find taxes in there either.

If we ever pass health care, there will be a lawsuit to challenge the Constitutionality of it, that’s why we have the checks and balance, I’ll bet you a dollar to a donut right now, that if we pass healthcare, the majority of the House members say yes, when the Senate says yes, and the President signs it, I bet you the court will rule and decide that this is in the best interest of the country and it’s Constitutional.

Pretty funny stuff from this guy. You won't find taxes in there? I find it in the 1st 10 words of Article 1, Section 8: "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes ...."

We need to revisit these words:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it.

Is not to offering of something of value to a government official in exchange for some action a BRIBE? Isn’t that ILLEGAL? I may be mistaken though...in the liberal legal philosophy.

There is no such thing as a pro-life Democrat, just as there is no such thing as a chaplain in a brothel, or prayer in a government school.

A “pro-life” Democrat is someone who makes a ruckus now and then over a few words in a bill, but votes for the pro-abortion leadership at the beginning of each Congress, and votes for their pro-abortion legislation if the price is right. And it always is.

My impression of Stupak is, he will vote if push comes to shove. I don’t think he has much of a backbone, but, I’m hopeful. He needs to go.

That's the same impression that I had when we went to the townhall meeting at Tech earlier this year. When questioned about voting for the health care bill if abortion wasn't taken out. He wouldn't give a straight answer, he danced all around it, I was totally disgusted with him. He needs to go.

When this “health care for all” crap passes, right now the legislation states that it will be illegal to sell private policies over the date of passage. It also says that HSA’s will no longer be allowed. That means that my current policy will no longer be allowed and neither I nor my employer will be allowed to privately purchase an alternative.

I will not accept the “public option” that I will be dictated to join. I will not give the government control over my physical body. I will not pay their fines, I will not surrender to the impending warrant for my arrest. When they knock on my door, I will not answer. When they kick it in, I will make the news.

How’s that for unification, libtards? You loons are currently legislating my death. I will chose the terms and I will bring as many of you along as possible!
