Republicans cannot win against the rats on their personal sexual failings. The public does not expect dems to be moral in that regard. The rats are the libertine party. You can’t beat them by pointing out that their personal behavior is consistent with their political stance. E.G., Barney Frank’s prostitution and drug sales rings run out of his house did not damage the rats one little bit.
But this was especially true for slick willie. After Jennifer Flowers, the only people who even pretended to believe Clinton was not a hardcore cheater on his wife worked at NPR. And that was before he was elected. The public knew Clinton’s character and did not care. They liked the good ol’ boy anyway.
