Too bad it's not out for another year.
It might already be outdated by then.

Makeshift weapons? What sort of lame suburb is this? I’m betting my suburb has probably close to a 1-gun-per-two-adults ratio, just based on demograpics - and then there are oddballs like my husband and me who are more like 10-guns-per-adult households.

TEOTWAWKI
English please
***************
The End Of The World As We Know It.
TEOTWAWKI is shorter.
I prefer ‘postapoc’ for the post-apocalyptic genre. Depending on the creators, these narratives run from the worst kind of kitsch to thought provoking, even profound speculation.
At their best, they lay bare the essentially artificial sense of security we enjoy, but which also deceives us. Then the protagonists have to contend with the primal tasks of survival for themselves, their loved ones, and their allies.

Looks like “One Second After” without the sinister cause. Similar societal effect and story.
Looks good.

Nope--that's too early. They will see the nukes coming, and launch themselves. Given the electronic nature of nukes, there is no "good" time to launch without getting nuked yourself. I guess what you would have to do is launch from only your closest sites at time that has them arrive seconds before the event. Then they get launch warning at the same time they would have to launch to avoid being too late, meaning, it's too late. You still may end up getting screwed, though, because they still have plenty of time to launch, the missiles just won't arrive before the event. We assume this fries the intelligence in missiles, so they no longer have guidance or flight control, the nukes can't detonate, etc, but you're still not olly-olly-oxen-free because even a crashed nuke is a nasty item to have to deal with. Toxic contamination and radioactive as well if the warheads broke open, etc.

Reminds me of Fireproof. Great story and a gallant effort by amateurs, but still has that amateur look.
I mean, we own all the movies by the Fireproof people, and enjoy them, but I see the movies for what they are, technically.
I’d still like to see this if it ever comes out.

Makeshift weapons? What sort of lame suburb is this? Looks like it's the outside entitlement-minded types who resort to makeshift weapons to attack the community. Given recent examples of looting, arson and related mayhem, this is a rather plausible scenario.
