Barbara Bush vs Sarah Palin: "Sarah is all class"
Riehl World View ^ | 11/20/2010 | Dan Riehl

Posted on 11/20/2010 4:38:37 PM PST by Lakeshark

"Barbara Bush Should Shut Up," says Dan Riehl. Oh no. Not our Bar. Painful to acknowledge, but after a lifetime of embracing the former first lady's persona of outspoken authenticity, we have to admit she no longer speaks to us. See below for details. Above, GHWB and Barbara in a Larry King interview that will air Monday.

Although I think we all would appreciate it if he would.

So, let me get this straight... When you trash Sarah Palin, you don’t think other Freepers should be allowed to give you a dose of your own medicine?

Poor baby.

we have enough enemies in the world. we need not eat our own. If Sarah ever logs onto FR, it is my hope that she would feel among friends.

No, I don’t like her voice. But that wouldn’t stop me from voting for her. You’re right though, I don’t like the choices she’s made lately. I don’t see how she can say her kids are off limits, then trot them out on TV. I think that goes to judgement...and I think it tell me she has no intention of running for President. I think she is having fun travelling and making money and annoying liberals. And I love her for that. But I don’t think she’ll run and you’ll all have your hearts broken.

I can’t believe we’re going to have two years of this! LOL! You can at least laugh a little with me on that one!

So, let me get this straight..the new policy of FR is to completely trash anyone who utters a harsh word about Sarah Palin, right?

Political correctness sucks, no matter which side employs it. In this particular case, what Mrs. Bush said wasn't even harsh let alone worthy of getting all bent out of shape over. Obviously, she has someone else in mind as her candidate. What's wrong with that?

I am full on supporting of Palin running for president. She has very thick skin. I'm hoping more of her supporters will grow some as well. The strategy should be to positively sell Palin to others and not piss off potential supporters.

IMHO, "Bar" would get a lot less grief here -- and maintain her previously "classy" image --- if she would first:
- blast Obama, and then
- attack Bill and Hillary, and if possible,
- say something against Pelosi and Reid --
...BEFORE she decides to take on the current standard-bearer of OUR side.
She and Tokyo Rove need a few more lessons in "enemy identification" before they're ready to speak in public again.

If Sarah logs on here, she will be quite embarrassed of some of her supporters behavior. We need to remember how our actions reflect on her, too.

If that is a shot at me. and I believe it is. The only thing im guilty of is trying to fight back against the haters and correct the media myths.

The fact that there are people out there reading this that afraid of taking cheap shots at Governor Palin and us (her supporters) is a good thing. If I had a part in scaring them off, thats a feather in my cap

I certainly won’t have my heart broken, you can trust me on that. I actually don’t think she will run, too much trouble. Besides, I’m too old to put anybody up on a pedestal. I quit hero worshiping people a long time ago. People are always going to disappoint you, they are human.

I do think her young children should be off limits, even if she brings them on TV. I think it’s unfortunate, that all children aren’t off limits, until they chose to become public, like McCain’s daughter.

I hope she’s enjoying herself. It’s what life’s about, or should be.

I wish I could agree with you about the laughing part. The next two years are going to be very long ones. Sometimes, I think it might be better to not think about politic at all, but as we all know, FR is addictive.

Barbara Bush would not have made this uncouth comment, seated next to her husband, unless it reflected the opinion of her family.

This is clarifying, and positive, for Gov. Palin. They have shown their colors over a year before the first primary.

I'm not saying Sarah is my first and only choice, but people have to start to realize that dissing her gets her 10 more votes every time. The only Republican in the field right now that makes me throw up a little in my mouth is Romney, and he seems to be in the top 3 in every poll. I can guarantee if he gets the nod he will lose. Romney care is like a millstone on him now,( and of course the flip on abortion). To think that if Sarah gets the nod she loses is just not true. She is under the microscope 24/7 and is holding up quite well. I'm sure there will be flubs in the future, but who is perfect? The Sarah haters just show they are mentally ill and that serves to help her, not hurt her. She could leap frog many of the "also rans" right now by releasing some policy papers and leaving some of the fluff behind.

We have alot of talent out there with Thune, Pence, Pawlenty, and a few others. To be taken on an equal basis as some of those, she will have to show she has the ability to have an opinion as to what will be required to remedy some of our deeper problems. As far as problem solving, I like Newt, but many here seem to think he has baggage of some sort. He doesn't have anymore than Romney or Huckabee. If the election were held today, I would vote for Newt because I know he is an adult and knows what he is doing. I think the learning curve would be short with him. That isn't to say I can't be swayed to any of them,( except Romney,....not gonna happen.)

Sarah is right up there with all of them in my book. I think her biggest problem is she doesn't have a team to help her. Everything is done by her and Todd. That is difficult if you plan on anything bigger than mayor of a small town. Even getting elected to Senate take an organization of some size. What she has going for her is name recognition and common sense. She doesn't have to take a poll or see which way the wind blows to make her decisions. Getting a team together to get her message out and of course having a coherent, relevant message is more than half the battle.

If you notice, when Palin is on TV, she usually gets questions about "Do you really think you can win?", or "What is your opinion of Dancing with the Stars?" Why don't they ask her what she would do if Iran gets a nuke or "Do you think QE2 will work?" Frankly, I think if they did, she would knock it out of the park and that doesn't fit with the image they are promoting of her being an ignorant boob. She is going to have to push her idea's out there herself and that also gives her the advantage of handling her own image instead of Katy Couric doing it for her.

Barb is pissed off because the Bush brand is as welcome as a cactus filled pillow...She knows those capable of critical thought would rather juggle chains saws than face yet a 3rd Bush president...

The Bush's are just peeing on Palin's parade.

Pretty much expected..

I have to laugh. Barbara Bush is being very Sarah-like, acting like a mama bear protecting her baby cub (Jeb). Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or something.
However, I think Alaskan grizzlies command more respect than Texas black bears and the Texas bears would give grizzlies a wide berth. Barb should have done the same.

LOL. I see your point.

Barbara Bush played into vile Larry King's hands. Pity that. Larry never misses the chance to ask all of his Republican guests what they think about Sarah Palin.

Barbara gave Larry his money quote, so now Barbara 's stock has toppled with former admirers, like me, because she and 41 praise 'their adopted son Bill Clinton' but couldn't resist that crappy remark about Sarah Palin.

Her Jeb will never be POTUS. At least not during her lifetime.

Hey, I think I agreed with you that Gov. Palin isn’t going to run. I think I should get credit for that too.

The story of my life, I never get credit for stuff.:)

You got that right. Don’t say a negative word about Sarah. And don’t say a negative word about the chubby daughter who is not a very good dancer.

But it’s okay to trash Mrs. Bush who has always been very much a lady.

The Bushies and their pal, the son of Elmer Fudd and Miss piggy, Karl Rove, dream of crowning Jeb as the next Republican front runner.
