I don’t think this will end good for the USA.

So whats the matter with Egypt? The same thing that is the matter with most of the modern Middle East: in the post-industrial world, its hundreds of millions now are vicariously exposed to the affluence and freedom of the West via satellite television, cell phones, the Internet, DVDs, and social networks. And they become angry that, in contrast to what they see and hear from abroad, their own lives are unusually miserable in the most elemental sense. Sounds like Oakland, CA.

Sound analysis as usual by VDH. Almost as deep and thoughtful as Jimmy Carter’s. (sarc)

There is a fundamental flaw in thinking Western influences will liberate Muslims. Muslims won’t be liberated until they free their minds from Islam, and the West doesn’t understand that kind of spiritual problem.
I can still remember the Westernized Iranians who wore their Ayatollah Khomeini emblems when the Shaw was overthrown. Iranians couldn’t wait to book flights home to help celebrate their Islamic democracy. Many of the Iranians who lived richly and freely over here went home to help taunt America.

VDH pointing out the obvious, again. When civilizations clash, its never a pleasant experience.
The people of the ME need to figure out that living in the 7th century AD is an unproductive way of life.
