WATCH: Christina Aguilera Screws Up The National Anthem At The Super Bowl

The biggest moment any singer can ask for: "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl. And Christina Aguilera messed up the lyrics.

At about 51 seconds in, as she was about to sing the fourth line ("O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming"), she accidentally sang a hybrid of the second line: "What so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last streaming."

Like a professional, she seemed to know that she messed up, but kept going to the end. Check it out below.

Jordan Sparks (former American Idol winner) sang a beautiful version of the anthem a few years ago. I think it’s one of the best versions I’ve ever heard. Martina McBride also did a great job 2 weeks ago for the AFC championship. But I love Jordan Sparks version.

Is that Cyndi Lauper? /sarc. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I wasn't the only one who thought so!

Actually, I think that Cyndi woulda been respectful singin' the National Anthem AND [if she had been the halftime entertainment] she woulda put on a fabulous show ...

As it stands, we got a Prima Donna bimbo pooching the Anthem AND a lame halftime show ...

Perhaps I misdiagnosed, but I think she also sounded a bit wasted.

A long time ago, back in my drinking days, I was at a Texas Rangers game and when the National Anthem was played and barely sang by the fans, I let it rip! Hit the high notes and everything! When the song was finished an old lady behind me, with tears in her eyes, said “That was beautiful.” I swear. Always wanted to sing that at a ball game. Too bad I had to get drunk to pull it off.

Yes, the halftime show was HORRIBLE !!

You know the halftime act was bad when the best song they did wasn’t even theirs. Fergie’s imitation of WAxle was mildly amusing, though. It went downhill FAST from there.

This has been posted before but there are just moments when it’s good to see where talent and meaning does show in the most unexpected times.

WOW! That was great! Now that is the way to sing The Star Spangled Banner. Just sing the notes of the song as written. And sing it will real feeling. Thank you so much for posting that.

Don’t watch the next one then. And set your V-chip so the kids can’t, either.

Amazing almost 5 million hits on this one video, and there were several which got it out there with hits on those. The guy was a former Marine which made all the more impact. Here’s another which picks up where he begins singing.
He should have been the one singing at the Super Bowl!
