Gabrielle Giffords as the Democrat Political Human Shield in Arizona
Red Meat Conservative ^ | 02/14/11 | Daniel

Posted on 02/14/2011 10:57:54 AM PST by red meat conservative

In light of Jon Kyl's surprise retirement announcement last week, conservatives are presented with a unique opportunity to elect an unabashed conservative from the deep red state of Arizona.  The Republicans have super majorities in both houses of the legislature and control every statewide elected office.  As Arizona becomes more conservative, there is a plethora of solid candidates, which if elected, would serve as an improvement over Jon Kyl.  Once the Democrats destroyed Arizona's borders and opposed SB 1070, they were banished from electoral politics across the state.  Presumably, there would be no viable chance for the Democrats to turn over this seat.  But, the Democrats have a trick up their sleeve; run Gabrielle Giffords.

Ever since the tragic shooting in Tucson, the Democrats have employed every insidious tool at their disposal to score much needed political points from the tragedy.  Based upon Obama's poll numbers, it appears that they have succeeded to some degree.  Now, they are plotting to run Giffords for the Senate seat even before she recovers.  They figure that Republicans will not have the effrontery to oppose her.

Let's be clear.  Our hearts go out to Congresswomen Giffords and her family as we wish her the most complete and speedy recovery possible.  However, that does not mean that we should place emotions ahead of national interests by surrendering a Senate seat to her.

The Democrats have always acted repugnant by manipulating tragedies for their own political advancement.  They stop at nothing in their pursuit of their capricious takeover of the country and will indignantly use "victims" as political human shields to obviate Republican opposition.  They lack the rectitude, intellect, and justification to promote their incoherent and inefficacious policies based upon their own merits, so they mask them behind political untouchables.  What more effective political human shield than Gabrielle Giffords?

Six years of torture for John McCain in the Hanoi Hilton did not earn him a single gratuitous vote in 2008.  This sort of entitlement politics based upon emotional experiences never works for Republicans.  And it shouldn't.  It has no place in our constitutional republic.  Maybe it would work in Egypt.

These people are simply nefarious political terrorists who lack the truculence to fight without human shields.  If they really were as macho as they purport, they would run Janet Napolitano and defend their support of illegal immigration without the protection of Giffords's skirt.

However, assuming that God-willing, she recovers completely by the end of the year, we must be prepared for such a scenario.  Will we surrender the seat by virtue of her entrance into the race?  Is there anyone who would have the temerity to run a rigorous campaign against her?

Not one picture of her has been published since the shooting. Why?

That's why I'm guessing she won't run.

Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Rep Giffords. That said, a conservative in DC is ALWAYS better than a rat. Show no mercy on that point.

Good lord, she can't speak and has limited cognition.

For democrats, those aren't any problem; they're basic qualifications. :=)

We let a Ted Kennedy write legislation for a decade with a brain tumor the size of a golf ball; after we elected two RINO type turds (Wheld, Rhomney) who would have done better for the commonwealth if they shared Teds tumor and gone apopletic.

Who could possibly give a $hit about a through and through head shot victim calling the shots.

Things are not going to end well.

I don’t think I have seen a picture of Tim Johnson recently either. I wish Giffords well, but I know if she had been GOP there would be calls for retirement already on the left.

Look Gabby Giffords has gotten the usual “1984/BigBrother” Obama Democrat Party treatment, a cheer leader rally for POTUS Barack Hussein Obama. Obama could care less about Gabby Giffords. Gabby’s Democrat Party could care less about Gabby Giffords. Shucks, we’’ll just use her shooting incident to Obama’s advantage. Too bad Gabby and her husband cannot see how they have been used for purely political reasons, along with the other unfortunate folks and children destroyed by a lunatic nutcase!!! The real criminals here reside in Washington, DC. Shame on the citizens of Arizona and the USA for condoning the Obama “Pep Rally” when a mourning and loss of life ceremony was called for!!! America continues to amaze me with their poor ignorance and useless purpose.

Liberals love the slain and injured. They are handy for hoisting up on standards while they do the blame dance round them.

I hope she recovers, but...despite evidence to the contrary from the incumbents, brain damage is not a desirable quality for election as a United States Senator.

It is a face thing.

Saving, and compassionate vanity conflict between those who perceive themselves her new controllers and those who truly care about her.

I hold out hope that the hubnd will intervene in this situation.

He may well do just such a thing before the fact.

Then, he too will be destroyed.

Arizona is NOT a “deep red state” anymore. The next Senator from Arizona will not be to the right of Jon Kyl.

Why pretend that can happen? She had half her brain blown off. She'll never be any more presentable than Jim Brady, and I doubt being able to give a thumbs up salute will be enought to get elected Senator for the first time.

Plus the fact that it takes a tremendous ammount of energy to run a Senate campagne. I do not think she will be up to it.

campaign
1640s, "operation of an army in the field," from Fr. campagne "campaign," lit. "open country," from O.Fr. champagne "open country" (suited to military maneuvers), from L.L. campania "level country" (cf. It. campagna, Sp. campaña, Port. campanha), from L. campus "a field" (see campus). Old armies spent winters in quarters and took to the "open field" to seek battle in summer. Extension of meaning from military to political is Amer.Eng. 1809. The verb is first attested 1701. Related: Campaigned; campaigning.
campagne
obs. form of campaign.

Considering her best friend in the House is Debbie Wasserman-Shultz, you can be damn sure she will run no matter what her condition. I would sooner make “friends” Satan himself.

Of course! Her weak policies on illegals should be exposed for all. And if her mental capacity is shown to be lacking in any way, that must be exposed because it would deprive Arizonans of the most effective representation.

I don’t think I have seen a picture of Tim Johnson recently either.

Johnson has been back in the Senate. But once again, a liberal who should have been defeated is saved by a health problem. Johnson "won" (massive Indian vote fraud) by 500 votes in 2002, but won by 30% in 2008, and now will stay until he is buried. Sickening to see such misplaced sympathy. These are public SERVANTS, not royalty.
