Wonder why the administration made such a stink of reducing the US airborne presence around Libya, and handing it off to France, Italy, Canada and Turkey? Here's the answer: the CVN65 Enterprise which last week was within striking distance of Libya, has quietly left the Red Sea and is now virtually swimming in the wake of CVN 70 Vinson in the Strait of Hormuz. Because obviously whatever is about to happen in the Persian Gulf will need not one but two aircraft carrier formations. And meanwhile in Japan the Washington is doing all it can to put radiation free miles between itself and Fukushima, even as the Essex, chock full of marines is sitting on the coast waiting for orders.

The Wee Wee's fine military mind has been active again
On a more serious note, it appears that we are positioning ourselves for something much more serious than overthrowing a few tin pot dictators. This entire situation is becoming more and more troubling ... especially considering our CIC ... Complete Idiot in Charge
is this common knowlege??...should we be telling potential enemies where we are going?
Common knowledge to anyone who is capable of viewing the page at the link for this article.
Right when I was getting where I wanted to be as far as retirement. I think the world is fixing to change a lot.
Ha...enemies both foreign and domestic have hot lines into the White Hut.
RE: is this common knowlege??...should we be telling potential enemies where we are going?
Hopefully the presence of such force will make its use unnecesary——but OTOH we are not dealing with sane people.
The War is coming gentlemen. And our idiot leaders will make all the wrong moves. And our children will pay in blood (and maybe us).
we are at war with 3 countries
back in the day...’loose lips sink ships’ meant you did not tell the deployment of your forces....so if it is common knowlege and linkable..then someone either knows better or just does not give a rats @$$...and considering who the commander and chief is...I would say, the latter.
Two AQ support aircraft carriers, soon to be renamed the “obummer the first” and “The Benedict Gates”:
Go to the official Navy website and it'll tell you which carriers and major amphibious ships are in port, which are at sea, and which are deployed. It's done so for years.
Back in the day, if the enemy wanted to learn about naval deployments and troop movements, he had only to hang around the base beauty parlors or bars near the main gate. After a couple of days, the wily enemy would have all the intel he could handle.
Being that we don’t have cloaking devices for our ships just yet, the fact that it sticks out like a sore thumb on the horizon was not missed by the Sudanese pirates and the rest of the ships traveling that corridor and they all have radios.
To make another point, the fact that we learn it is on station with an existing carrier already under a certain amount of surveillance by our “friends” in the neighborhood, I’m sure it is no surprise to them as well. They did keep it quiet that it was moving and the reason for the move so let them wonder what is up, especially Achmadinejad.

The navy posts the info on its website in slightly less accessible form.
The only problem for him would be sifting through the beer talk to get the few grains of fact from all the alcohol addled speculation. Everyone knows a ship is going to sea. Some missions the only person who knows the purpose is the Captain and he may not even have the full picture.
Not that I'm aware of. But then again, China and Russia naval ships don't deploy like we do. They have no 6 month deployments, no three wars to support, no NATO obligations, nothing like that.
Well, it can’t be a confrontation with Iran - we have no quarrel with the Religion of Peace!
I was always surprised to see the same women in bars in different countries. Somehow they knew where we would be when we didn’t.
It's a good point, but being pragmatic, with today's technology every government knows where every one else is anyway. We even can tell identify the ships by sound with sonobuoys. (subs) You have a unique voice, so does the every ship. It really is no big deal. Might even be good for them to know we can be anywhere in a short time.
