Set your DVRs for 9 PM EDT next Wednesday, April 6. That is when the new TLC series, "Extreme Couponing," kicks off. They had it as a special last December and the response was so great that it has been turned into a series.
Judging from the video on the HOME PAGE of this series, it looks like they have new couponeers featured. I don't know if they will stick to the same group each week or if new couponeers will be featured each week. If the latter, I wonder if TLC would ever get around to contacting The Coupon Whisperer. They might not want me since I prefer to deal in quality, not quantity although when I first started out I went whole hog by getting enormous amounts of stuff that I had no room for. Also the Elmore Leonard quality of my life here in South Florida might be a bit too bizarre for the TLC folks. Like, for example, Randy the Gollum to whom I gave a lot of chicken wings just might be too strange for TV. Somehow I don't think images of this homeless Gollum washing himself off in a dirty canal would go over too well with audiences. Also some of the problem managers I run into which might make for good TV would probably be on their best behavior knowing they are being recorded. A certain throwback redneck store manager comes to mind and I don't think he would want the outer world to see him as he really is.

Welcome aboard, PINGEE #265.
Did you know my friend Ken Norton? He lived in Dacula about 4 years and moved back down here last year.
Welcome aboard, PINGEE #267.
I’ve already got it set to record.
Any Claritin users out there - I was able to get the 30+10 extra tablets for $7.49 + tax at Target this week. They have it for $12.49 and there were $5 coupons in the Sunday paper. That is Cheap! Expiration date on Claritin is 2013, so was able to pick up 8 boxes. There was some confusion in the store, as they had another price on the shelf, but I showed them it was pictured in their ad. Or, you can get it for the same price at Walmart if you bring in the Target ad.
PUBLIX in Florida ( great supermarket) weekly has various BUY 1, GET ONE FREE specials on many name brands. I usually scan the circular, and if something appeals I'll buy 2. I'm a single guy, with limited pantry space.
I stop in two weeks ago to buy a Lottery ticket. ( I didn't win, darn) They had a BOGOF for Rice-a-Roni. I used to love the stuff, but stopped eating it years ago because of the high sodium content. Now they make a low sodium version, so I figured I'll get 4 boxes.
Now, on the Rice-a-Roni box, I see there's a manufacturer's peel off instant coupon..If you buy any THREE boxes of Rice-a-Roni PRODUCTS, you get a free box of any Pasta Roni. Pasta-Roni is also included in the PUBLIX BOGOF offer.
I have an MBA in finance, and visions of sugar plums are dancing in my head, though I must admit I'm having trouble following the mathematical permutations of all this..It's like a 'which came first, the chicken or the egg'..or which coupon comes first, takes precedence..it's staggering to contemplate, let alone calculate...
But I figure, what the heck..so I put 4 boxes of Rice a Roni, and 2 boxes of Pasta Roni, in my basket, and go to check out..toss them all on the counter, figure the computer will sort it all out... the clerk peels off the manufactures' coupons, scans the boxes, scans the coupons...hits the key, and presto...
My receipt totals $8.67. It says I saved $ 8.00, and I paid 67 cents. THAT'S ELEVEN CENTS A BOX!!!! WOWSER!! So I went back and did it again.
I have the receipt, showed it to friends, and they marvel. And I have to admit, it's addictive, though I think I'll be hard pressed to ever surpass my first try.
I don’t know what to say I saw the first showing of Extreme couponing as a series I don’t know
If I going watch craziness I watch Deadliest Catch PJ
Actually you can surpass it now. Referring to the Publix deal I alluded to. You will be PAID $1.01 to take an item worth $10.99. Now research it and see if you can find the deal. And that's all I'm gonna say on this deal.
p.s. Posting from my Campaq Presario laptop which I got last year for FREE via coupons.
One big difference. The chances of any of us doing the Deadliest Catch routine are very slim. I doubt most of us would last a day on one of those boats. Seasickness, cold, weariness, etc... However, it is very likely that we can repeat the feats of the Extreme Couponers. I have done it many times and, in fact, might have outdone some of them (unless they also scored a free computer via coupons).
They probably expect you to contact them.
Thank you very much!
If you have an MBA in finance you should know that you had to put SIX boxes of RiceaRoni down with the two boxes of PastaRoni.
Heehee
(I’ve been cleaning up them, too. I have four kids though, so I can use all I can get.)
No, no..you missed my point..see..the Pasta-Roni was included..it was any three boxes of any Rice-a-Roni products...even if it was FREE..that’s what threw me initially...and I was right...because the comupter took it..
Just so you know, you can get 360 tablets of generic claritin for about $13 at costco.
We’ve been using it for a couple years and it works great.
This site has coupons you can print out...and there is a $5 claritin coupon, $2 huggie diapers, and $1 on Hillshire Farm lunch meat. It tells you when you have reached your print limit. They work, I’ve used several over the past few weeks.
That’s good to know about the Costco generic tablets. I don’t have a Costco membership, but I’ll have to check with some friends to see if they do. I have a Sam’s Club card, but never checked to see if they have a generic. 2 of my sons use it, so I was trying to pick some up for them.
Thanks, I forgot about the online coupons. I’ve been too busy to check all the couponing stuff. I just happened to see the sale ads and coupons in the paper this weekend and decided to go shopping. I’ve done more preplanned coupon shopping in the past and hope to do more in the future, but got kind of sidetracked with family health issues the past year. I’m ready to get back into it.
