A Chilling Study in Cause and Effect - Finding the true cause of the Kandahar Riots
Illinois Review ^ | April 3, 2011 A.D. | John F. Di Leo

In a small town in Florida on March 20, the pastor of a small church held a public event: burning a koran for his audience and a video camera. His American Christian audience reacted as one would expect from them: they were happy to be a part of this provocative event; they returned to their homes and jobs after the service, and went on with their lives.

The world continued to turn… nobody of substance cared about Pastor Jones’ latest attempt at news coverage… until almost two weeks later, when it made the news half a planet away, in Afghanistan.

The president of Afghanistan denounced the event; imams and mullahs hammered it in their mosques. Their Afghan muslim audience reacted as one would expect from them: they streamed out into the streets, hunting down foreigners, beating hundreds of UN aides, NATO staffers, contractors, travelers, journalists, soldiers… rioting in the streets, burning the shops in their own neighborhoods, destroying property, attacking innocent bystanders. At least a hundred injuries and dozens of killings were confirmed by the second day of the riots.

In a world in which thousands die tragically every day – from starvation to murder, from disease and neglect – these events might not seem particularly newsworthy. When aren’t there riots in that part of the world? When aren’t innocents killed? It happens every day.

From the article:

Viewed against the backdrop of these past thirty years, it is clear that the islamists (no, not all muslims, but the non-moderate ones – the jihadists and fundamentalists who control so many muslim countries and appear to dominate the clerical class) will grasp at any justification, however slim, to rouse their rabble into violent action.

This is a good article overall. The author makes one mistake, however. Above he refer to "non-moderate" muslims, implying there are "moderate" muslims. The difference is that the "moderates" have not picked up their weapons yet. Yet is the operative word.

I don't know his name, and don't want to know his name, but a year or so ago one of those who would have probably been called a "moderate" muslim beheaded his own wife. If I remember correctly, he lived in New York state and ran his own television station.

Apparently a peaceful, "moderate" muslim ... 'til the day he beheaded his own wife.

They might very well but that is what that religion is about. That would show what a real martyr is “one willing to die for his faith” rather than the phony “martyr” who KILLS for his faith. i.e. the Islamic suicide bomber.

You seem to not understand the difference in deliberate provocation and just living your life.

Read #92. Somebody who’s been there corroborates my whole point that the Koran burning is a cover for the more serious acts that reflect badly on Obama and Petraeus.

You didn't answer what I said, perhaps you ought to take the tag (repeats what his muzzie masters wantohear).

You my friend, the perpetual dhimmi, are making our troops jobs harder.

I'm sorry, you don't know what you're talking about. Can you explain where you're thinking comes from? I have to admit I kind of doubt you can.

*Awaits intelligent answer*

Yeah, it is SUCH a mystery even after several months of publicity, his meetings with Imans.

Anyone with their heads not up their butts knows exactly what this cowardly clown is up to. Just as I know what Jesse Jackson is up to without “talking to him personally.”

You seem to have truckloads of condemnation for the preacher but hardly a peep for the actual murderers.

Interesting.

Not one gave his live for such a thing. This expansion by the courts of what the 1st amendment means is an absurdity and you know it. Not one of the Founders would tell you it is meant to protect acts designed to provoke or the right to produce pornography. I am surprised you would accept this beloved premise of the Left.

Minister Moron has no other concerns than how much publicity can he get.

Your fantasy world of fear never existed no matter how good it sounds. Where did you get that idea anyway? Where have we slaughtered people on a wholesale basis? When did we ever act like Nazis?

I agree with you both. But I’d still nuke the place. I’d do it myself but the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has a fairly insensitive attitude toward me having my own atomic weapons.

Have read your replies, it appears that your IQ never made it above room temperature. This is a free country that will allow s citizen to burn a flag, but your ticked and want this pastor shunned because he burned a Koran...your in the wrong country. I'd burn one if I had it, but wouldn't spend the money on one..

It also appears that we should start calling you Saint Arrogantsob, you seem to be so close to Christ that you feel you can speak for him....

Sorry but you can’t get away with confusing two different issues. Discussions are not the same as actions. Had Minister Moron merely discussed the weaknesses of Islam even the whackjobs would have been quiet.

Didn’t Christ warm us of the phonies who would do things in his name but were not christians. Ye shall know them by their fruits. If the result of an act is something in support of Christ then it was good if not then it was evil.

You keep ignoring the impact of acts on our troops with your hypotheticals. That is my only concern here.

As to “denominational” rivalry. You guessed it I am definitely not a member of the Crackpoterian Church.

I suspect we’d not hear a peep out of you if it were Father O’Foolhardy who had burned a Koran, quite honestly.

I don’t care if he’s an atheist masquerading as a pastor. He’s a private citizen just like anybody else in this country.

Jesus did not mince words about what he wanted now did he? He lays it all out for us, if we would listen. I cannot claim that I am as faithful to his words as I should be but I can almost always tells when an act is acceptable to him. Doesn’t mean I won’t go and sin anyway. But I know it is a sin.

Koran’s printed on modern paper don’t burn well due to the high clay content in the paper. However, they do a nice job in the smoker with a pork butt roast.

I am not in the slightest danger from Muslim anger or violence and watching it would be just another tv show but for the fact that our troops are the ones who will suffer for it. They are my entire concern here. Not Minister Moron and the Mopes who support him.
