Sound the Trumpet (Levin: Trump is no conservative)
Legal Insurrection ^ | 4/16/2011 | William Jacobson

Posted on 04/16/2011 7:32:47 AM PDT by Lakeshark

There's not much I can add to Mark Levin's explanation of why Donald Trump does not represent the conservative or Tea Party movements. He wasn't there when we needed him, and he helped those who were against us.

So why the swirling support around Trump?

Much of it, without doubt, is name recognition. But that cannot explain it completely.

As of now, Trump is the only one willing to meet Obama's smash-mouth attitude with smash-mouth attitude.

Obama can invite Paul Ryan to sit in the front row for Obama's budget speech, and then spend 45 minutes calling Ryan everything but a murderer, and Obama gets away with it because we have respect for the Office of the President even if we do not respect the President.

Obama got a pass on Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers, and on just about everything else, as his minions trashed the Clintons, Geraldine Ferraro, and everyone who criticized Obama as racists.

The lesson of the recent sound of the Trump-et is not that we need Donald Trump, it's that we need to distinguish more clearly between the Office of the President and the President. ,p> And we need someone who is not afraid to tell it like it is about the most arrogant, demeaning and dismissive President of my adult life.

I wonder if Trump’s purpose isn’t maybe, instead of running, to clear the path for Hitlery 2012. After all, Obambi would make for a nice “fall guy” for the left.

Mark Levin is a sniveling coward. Constitutional scholar? Obama makes the same claim.

I'd be more concerned if Trump had donated just $10 to Carol Mosley Braun.

$50,000 to Rahm is negligible given the alternatives.

Look, I want West, Pence, or Palin to be President. Trump could be dangerous if he turns into Perot. However, I am thoroughly enjoying watch Trump humiliate Obama. I saw him on Hannity last night and it was amazing. Rezko, Birth Certificate, Ayers, Wright and his hatred of white people, etc...WOw. Great stuff. But the best was when he said that as soon as a reporter questions him about one of his deals his response will be go check out Rezko first. Now, that is how you deal with the lib media.

This will be a short lived relationship with Trump. His smash mouth to Obama has given us all a moral lift and we have rediscovered our adrenalin. There is some value in that. But long term...not so much. Trump is just too obvious. He’s in alright, only for The Donald—the contacts, the cameras and the financial gain. People are just polling away from Obama toward ANYBODY who can beat him. Trump might beat Obama but where would that leave us really?

People like him because Trump doesn’t care what you think about him and says what he wants. I really think it’s that simple.

What Trump says is based on what deal Trump makes. I really think it's as simple as that.

In this case I believe Trump has cut a deal with Hillary.

I agree with you. And I really have turned off Levin after his anti-birther rant earlier in the week. He wasn’t willing to lay out any reason to challenge birthers, especially as it relate to that pesky ‘natural born citizen’ thingy in the document Levin is such an expert on. He just closed down conversation because “it get ‘us’ nowhere.” That is a purely political, not Constitutional, matter. So much for the great defender of the Constitution.

I lost a little respect for Levin early in ‘08 when he refused to support any of the GOP candidates in the primaries, claiming he was friends with and liked them all. He and the talk radio guys who could have helped to form a consensus voted ‘present.’ So, we ended up with McCain.

My respect wasn’t enhanced listening to him nightly telling you that you should send YOUR kid to Hillsdale College. But when push came to shove, where’s his kid attending college? Well, in CA, quite the distance from Hillsdale in MI.

I’ve come to think that Levin is for Levin every bit as much as Trump is for Trump. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but spare me the sanctimony.

Ok, so far I've seen: Trump = Reagan, Trump = St. Paul.

Absurdity at its finest.

Convenient Excuse #1: Oh but that was to 'grease the political wheels. He's a businessman and has to do business there.'

You are 100% right. I don’t think there is a true conservative anywhere that would argue that Trump is the standard bearer of the Conservative cause. HE does take the bull by the horns though with regard to Obama, and NOBODY else does.

If we want to get back to our CONSERVATIVE ROOTS, we NEED to do it at the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH!!!!

Whew! for a few days there I was beginning to think I was the voice crying in the wilderness. I pegged Trump the first day he came out with this “Newfound religion”. He’s “trumping” for Hillary. I was screaming, DON’T BELIEVE HIM!” Thank God people are beginning to wake up.

I can’t listen now. For today, I support Trump 100%, that doesn’t mean that I would vote for him. Right now, we have to get our financial house in order if that collapses then everything is gone. And I am fairly positive that if everything collapses it won’t benefit conservatives in the least.
I am just taking it one day at a time.
And today I am serving Barack Hussein Obama TRUMPETS.
