Please forgive me if doing this incorrectly. This is my very first "thread" to Free Republic. I know very well the power of prayer so I come to my fellow Freepers to join in.
My four year old son has a slew of vision problems and has already had 2 eye surgeries ( on his left eye ) to remove a cataract at 6 months old, an MRI on his brain a few weeks after that and then at 3 years and one week old, he had another surgery to remove scar tissue in his lens capsule and to implant an intraocular lens.
A couple of weeks ago he had another eye movement recording to see where they should move some of his eye muscles to help correct his "null" point ( or focal point ) and to correct his head turn.
The report from the EMR was not written and given to his regular surgeon but he said, at our appointment yesterday at Childrens Hopsital that he's ready at any time to do this surgery but may recommend me to the worlds best pediatric ophthalmology surgeon for either just a second opinion or to do the surgery.No big deal if he does because it's only a 2 hour drive one way...
I know this got long but wanted to give some back ground but I'd surely appreciate any prayers you could send up for my child and his surgeon.

I work for a Pediatric Ophthalmologist. It sounds like the next surgery will be eye muscle surgery. Eye muscle surgery is nowhere near as serious as the cataract and IOL implant surgery your son already went through. Eye muscle surgery is almost sheer mathematics...and you should have a great result.
Hang in there...we are all pulling for you and your son!

I believe God has a beautiful plan for your little boy’s life and I have prayed for total healing to come from this surgery. I prayed also for you, that your anxiety will turn to peace about this procedure if it goes forward.

Yes, that’s what will be done. Just waiting on the doc to call me.
He told me that he’ll more than likely do a variation of the anderson-kestenbaum procedure.
If you work in pediatric ophthalmology then you’ve surely heard of Dr Richard Hertle ??? That’s who he said he may ( depending on EMR results ) refer me to.
I am so amazed at the outpouring of suppor, encouragement and the prayers.
Totally humbled as well.
