While The Week asks, Is Sarah Palin a has-been?, Tony Lee writes at Top Ten Reasons Why Sarah Palin is Running for President::
Too often, those who cover Palin do not listen to her words or read her statements, Facebook postings, or tweets. As a result, conventional wisdom holds that Palin is setting herself up to be an entertainer, a conservative money maker, or a right-wing flame thrower who seeks only to rouse up the conservative base and get rich quick off of it. If those who proffer these theories had listened to and read her words closely, they would know that Palin has been telling everyone that she is running for president in 2012. Here are ten reasons why.

Palin’s youngest son Trig — who happens to have Down syndrome — has been a major source of newsfeed this month. First a Kentucky professor’s academic paper (“Palin, the Press, and the Fake Pregnancy Rumor:Did a Spiral of Silence Shut Down the Story?“) engenders a rebirth of the who-is-really-Trig’s-mother conspiracy theory, spawning a multitude of columns and blogs.
Second, Jack Stuef — now a *former* Wonkette contributor — posts a beyond-tasteless greeting at the popular website marking Trig’s third birthday with a vile pastiche (URL: http://wonkette.com/greatest-living-american-a-childrens-treasury-of-trig-crap-on-his-birthday) that would be considered hate speech if we protected people with disabilities the way we are required to protect gays and lesbians.
Alerted by readers, advertisers immediately begin pulling the plug on their website ads. Resistant at first, Wonkette finally apologizes and eventually — on May 20 — Stuef loses his job.

Palin passes up invitation to White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Chooses Life Instead — she speaks at fundraiser for Heroic Media, presenting an award to Lila Rose, the young videographer/activist famous for her sting operations against Planned Parenthood for shielding sexual predators rather than protecting victims:
Planned Parenthood doesn’t empower women, or offer women who find themselves in less than ideal circumstances any kind of real choice. What they offer is not real choice or female health care.

At Facebook, Palin responds to the death of Osama bin Laden on behalf of A Grateful Nation.
In a speech at Colorado Christian University, just outside Denver, Palin explained her foreign policy, notable as the Lamestream Media have been after her for what they see as contradictions between her thumbs-up on bin Laden’s death and thumbs-down on Obama’s Libya intervention. According to Newsmax:
Some of the ideas that the potential GOP candidate for president advanced sounded like the Powell Doctrine. “We should only commit our forces when clear and vital American interests are at stake — period,” Palin said. As for nation-building, it’s a “nice idea in theory” but should not be the driving force for U.S. foreign policy, she said.
A president must be able to articulate “clearly defined objectives” before military action, and “American soldiers must never be put under foreign command,” Palin said.
Sunday’s U.S. attack that killed Osama bin Laden was “an effective use of force,” Palin said, in contrast to the “ill-defined” mission in Libya.

MSM Uses Palin’s Own Children as Political Weapons Against Her
Unlike any other politician today, only Palin is forced to deal with watching her private family matters, her very own children, dragged into the political arena and weaponized as political bludgeons against her — even when it comes to discussing and debating serious issues such as Libya. Again, it’s an intentional political tactic meant to keep this Palin-Fury of exhausting personal drama swirling, meant to keep us from taking the MSM’s Public Enemy Number One seriously.

After David Gregory accused Newt Gingrich of racism for calling Obama “the Food Stamp President” — referring to record numbers of Americans on food stamps — Palin turns the tables: Palin declares Meet the Press host David Gregory’s question to Gingrich racist:
He made it sound like that if you’re black you’re on food stamps and the president is referring to you being on food stamps. I think that’s racist. And you know, enough is enough of this calling out, this racism, these false charges. Obviously, it is done to end the conversation, just to distract, divert attention from what the real substance is and stop the conversation. Here again, enough is enough. Why do we let the press, the media personalities get away with such? Let’s call him out on them and let’s start concentrating on what the real issue is. The real issue is we have 40-something million Americans on food stamps. You know why? Because we don’t have a robust economy allowing the private sector to grow and thrive and have jobs provided via the private sector because government has overreached, overtaxed and overspent and got us in debt and there isn’t enough private sector money out there creating jobs. That needs to be the focus, not allowing David Gregory to falsely charge Newt Gingrich as being a racist because he’s making a statement of fact about how many people are on food stamps.
Refreshing, no?

Sarah still has to do a few other things this summer:
A) Clothes shopping in Paris with Carla Bruni.
B) Introduce her entire family to Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican.
C) Jet Skiing with Comrade Pooty-Poot on the Black Sea.
My wager on Palin’s Presidential Campaign announcement is November 13, 2011 in Lower Manhattan with the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop and a group of elderly, blue-collar Democratic Party ‘ethnic’ voters [i.e. Catholic Polish Americans]in the audience.
Sarah intones: ‘A recession is when your neighbor loses his job...A depression is when YOU lose YOUR job...and RECOVERY
IS WHEN PRESIDENT OBAMA LOSES HIS JOB!!!’
[Sound Familiar?]
I highly doubt it.
I’m still saying it’ll be in July.
Are you being deliberately obtuse or what?
Nothing obtuse about my post at all...you feel like answering?
No because I know you know that much of what you said is crap.
Palin/Bachman 2012 - Because a mess this big is gonna take TWO women to clean up.
and she would miss filing deadlines for the early primaries, which are in Oct.
Romney: Today I would like to announce that...."Hey, where's everyone going?" "Oh crap. not Palin!"
The Palin quote? (it's her own words)
The part about her doing nothing to defund PP in her own state? (if she did - tell us what)
The part about her never making public statements condemning abortion?(if she did cite them).
It's easy to call it crap --- it's not so easy to prove it --- let's see you try.
I guess I wasn’t clear.
I’m a grassroots volunteer. One of the things I do is talk to people who are genuinely interested and do my best to answer questions.
But it’s time consuming so I’ve learned how to spot someone who really is interested versus someone who isn’t, for their own reasons.
That way I can invest my time the most wisely and not fuss around with folks who are, let’s just say...more of the rabblerouser variety. IE not genuinely interested in the facts but rather to push a false narrative.
Then it must be tough since everything I posted is a fact...which you know already...or else you would have refuted my statements instead of blowing smoke.
Nope.
And you know you’re wrong but don’t care. Sad.
I mean come on. You don’t know of any instance where she’s spoken out for life? Even though she’s given speeches at pro life events?
Even though Piper is a poster girl for Alaska Right to Life?
So no. I don’t ascribe to your facts. I just don’t have the time to refute them all especially since you really aren’t interested in the truth.
If I am wrong then cite where and when she did state that abortion is wrong, that it is the murder of the unborn.
You won't because you can't because she hasn't.
Her public statements about abortion are full of the word "choice", including the statement that was posted above...here it is again, in her own words...
"Planned Parenthood doesnt really offer women who find themselves in less-than-ideal circumstances any real choice. They dont show women that they have the power, capability, strength, and love within themselves to choose the blessing that is life. They dont explain the resources that are available to parents who want to give their child life. They dont show them that adoption is a beautiful choice too."
"Choice...choose...choice". No mention of the immorality and evil of abortion. Not a word about the use of tax dollars to murder.
Palin did nothing to defund PP in Alaska while she could have. If I'm wrong then show us what she did. Again, you won't because you can't because she did nothing.
Those are the facts of her position on abortion.
You say that you don't "ascribe" to these facts. Very telling...if the facts of Palin on abortion don't fit your agenda then simply ignore them...maybe they'll go away.
So you don’t think in the speeches she gave to pro-life groups that she might have said something positive about life? You seem to forget that she’s done several speeches with prolife groups. Feel free to ignore this.
And that her daughter, Piper, was a poster child for AK Right to Life. Another inconvenient fact... go ahead and ignore this one too.
As for choice, her point is sound. “Pro-choice” is a false label. Pro-choice isn’t about choice. It’s about abortion. Not choosing life. Like she did. Her life is an advertisement for choosing life. But please, ignore that as well.
Her agenda as governor was never as a crusader on social values. She wasn’t what the media has painted her to be...as someone who’d Bible thump to get her way on social issues. She is a strict constitutionalist and her agenda was for common sense, cleaning corruption and getting government back on the right side of the people. So it doesn’t surprise me that she didn’t get a chance to tackle Planned Parenthood. Would I have liked if she had been able to? Sure. But her not having done so does not mean she is not pro-life.
And that’s the thrust of your argument. You’ve decided that because you can’t find her specifically going after PP, the only conclusion to draw is that she’s not pro-life. That logic is flawed...to the extreme. Her life is a pro-life story. Her youngest son is her testament to embracing life. The hatred feminazis have for her is deeply rooted in the fact that she is a pro-life woman who lives as she believes.
As for ascribing to your facts... I realized after I hit “post” that I should have been clearer.
What I meant was I don’t ascribe to your narrative, nor to the cherry picked factoids, or rumors, or half truths that you use to paint a picture of Sarah Palin as anything other than being pro-life.
Ironically...or perhaps more accurately “hypocritically”.. you ignore the facts of Palin’s life and career that directly contradict your narrative to spin your story.
So whatever. You want to believe one of the strongest pro-life figures in politics isn’t pro-life...go ahead and believe it.
As for me... I’ve got a website to build this weekend.
Palin for President 2012.
----Sorry, but stating one's 'personal' views on abortion is not even close to being publicly anti-abortion, in fact it is the same position every Dem uses..."I'm personally against it but..."
_________________________________________
"factoids, or rumors, or half truths that you use..."
---- Ok, since I quoted her directly and by your admission stated correctly that she did nothing to address PP abortions in Alaska, please tell me exactly what that I posted is a rumor or a half-truth.
You're the big supporter. One would assume that you've done your homework. So, tell us, with citation, when did Palin state that abortion is murder or that RvW should be over-turned?
Your problem is that you can't, in spite of all your dancing, because she never did.
__________________________________________________
"Her agenda as governor was never as a crusader on social values"
------ Oh, a fiscal conservative but not a social conservative was her governing style...thanks for clearing that up.
__________________________________________
"So it doesnt surprise me that she didnt get a chance to tackle Planned Parenthood."
--- Given her public statements, I don't think anybody is surprised. Although you are not being honest when you state that she didn't have the chance ---- she was the boss and she had the chance.
_________________________________________
As I said, your problem is that you cannot be completely honest and still paint the picture that you want to paint.
You've taken the time and energy to post at least four times but you never once posted a cited refutation of anything I wrote. That's ok, I understand...
Don’t worry. Won’t make that mistake anymore after this last note. An intransigent mind like yours is not worth my time since you’ve continued to do what it looks like you always do...which is cherry pick things to make a story that isn’t there.
Noticeably absent from your response? Everything I pointed out that directly contradicted your narrative.
That’s okay. I understand...
We both know that if you could have refuted what I posted with citation you would have.
Q: If your daughter were pregnant...
A: Again, I would choose life."
Q: If your teenage daughter got pregnant...
A: I'd counsel a young parent to choose life & consider adoption.
Choose - Choose ---- Where is the "Abortion is murder" answer?
"Q: Do you think theres an inherent right to privacy in the Constitution?
A: I do. Yeah, I do.
Q: The cornerstone of Roe v. Wade.
A: I do. And I believe that individual states can best handle what the people within the different constituencies in the 50 states would like to see their will ushered in an issue like that.
Ok, we got you, Mrs. Palin....Roe V Wade is good law under our constitution.
Oh, you think that the decision belongs to the states but you say nothing about the immorality of killin babies in the womb.
Q: Do you support or oppose the use of public funds for abortion (e.g., paying for abortion, promoting abortion, subsidizing organizations that provide or refer for abortion)?
A: I oppose the use of public funds for elective abortions.
Another Palin non-answer. Where is the "All abortion is immoral and no abortion should be paid for by the state"?
