These people were some of the most hateful people I have ever seen,” said a distraught Glenn Beck this morning as he described an altercation he and his family had last night while watching a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps in New York’s Bryant Park. Explaining that a group of people yelled at his family, took pictures of them, and kicked a cup of wine onto his wife, Beck said that his security team feels that, had he reacted poorly, things might have “gone off.” “I swear to you I think, if I had suggested, and I almost did, “Wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there’s tree here. You could just lynch me.’ And I think there would have been a couple in the crowd that would have.”
Beck took particular exception with Gawker (he didn’t name the website although he clearly described this post) for posting pictures of his family.

Hummm, if your family was treated in such a hateful manner, would you be upset? I would be! It shows that the liberal left is some of the most intolerant people in the US.
Well, Thursday is his last show, so maybe one of those liberal shows might suit. Personally, I would be furious if someone treated my family that way. I might have cried too. Liberals are the most intolerant hateful people that I have ever seen. If I were Glen, I would leave NY and move to Texas, where a conservative and jobs are appreciated.
So you are treated exactly like visiting fans are treated at University of Miami games.

As I undertand the description of the incident, the Becks were assaulted both verbally and physically, and endured it with class, unlike the losah New Yawkes assailants...
The California that my Father and Mother brought us to back in 1960 is a shadow of its former self. The Golden State was the Land of Opportunity when we moved here back in 1960.
That being said, although I have entertained the thought of moving out of California, I have yet to find a place that both my Wife and I would feel at home like we do here.
Most of my Wife's Family moved to Mississippi to retire. To us it's a nice place to visit, but we couldn't follow them there.
Besides, it would take a ton of dynamite to get my Wife to move out of our house. We live in South Orange County, the last bastion of Republicans, so I don't have to deal with too many wackos in my day to day life.
Great weather, no humidity and ten minutes to Laguna Beach.

I can still remember driving into Southern California as a little girl and smelling oranges everywhere. Imagine, being able to pick fruit right off your own trees. We actually got out of our car to touch the palm trees, we had never seen them before. And beaches, mountains, desert...all within an hour of us.
I grew up in Alhambra, a beautiful little city in the San Gabriel Valley, in the 60's and 70's. It was like living "American Graffiti." Beautiful California Craftsman bungalows and Spanish hacienda style homes everywhere. As for the weather...well, what can I say? Always beautiful, rain or shine, and almost no humidity. We could ride our bikes until late at night in the summer, and back then we never even locked our doors.
I know California will never be what it once was but even at its worst it's a wonderful place. Probably because of all those Midwesterners who moved here. Lots of solid conservatives, but like the man said, "We don't get no respect."
Sorry, I just get so sick and tired of our beautiful state getting bashed constantly. Thanks for the memories, FRiend...we will always have those, won't we?
My Dad had a Flying A Gas Station in Altadena on North Lake Ave. A lot of our family friends lived in Alhambra and Pasadena.
On those wonderful Summer evenings my (much older) Brother used to take me to the In and Out Burger and Bobs Big Boy, cruising around in his Candy Apple Red 56 Chevy or his 32 Ford 5 Window Deuce Coupe, (that he still owns BTW).
As the song says, those were the days. I thought I was the coolest ten year old boy in the world hanging out with my Brother and his very understanding girlfriend. Or it could have been that my Mom told him to take me with him so she could get rid of me for a few hours. LOL
I'll have to call my Old Geezer Brother and thank him for putting up with me back then.
My leftist friend says that Republicans are so hate-filled and then goes on a rant about how much she detests Palin, Beck and Bachmann!! And she doesn’t even hear the venom that comesout of her own mouth!!
I’ve never been to a Hurricanes game. I am NO fan of that team, believe me, being a rabid Notre Dame guy. If you want to see some real thuggery, spend five years as I did on the terraces of English football grounds.
They may speak it to you if spoken to, but on the streets I hear very little English...and she lives on the upper East Side, and has for 20 years.
I've never been, either, but I have lots of friends who are rabid college football fans. To a person, everyone of them who had been to a Hurricane home game rated it as the most hostile place they had gone. Like an Oakland Raiders game, apparently.
From what I hear, you're right that our bad behavior is nothing compared to the English soccer fans, although at least a couple of Dodger fans must have been taking pointers from the English fans when the beat that Giants fan into a coma. I hope they put these guys in a cell and throw the key away.

And it’s not just the Brits. They just happen to get most of the bad ink. The Dutch are pretty bad and the Italians are barbarians. My sons and I were leaving the Stadio Olimpico in Rome one afternoon. One of the local teams, Lazio, had played and were beaten by AC Milan. There was a Mercedes in the official parking lot with Milanese license plates. The car had been totally trashed by the Laziali.
I don’t want to get into a New York versus L.A. pissing match with you because I think both cities have a lot to offer and I’ve rarely enjoyed a trip as much as I did my visit to NYC 3 years ago. I also think both cities are being consumed by the disease of liberalsm. And you are right that L.A. is full of sub humans. I call the place the Star Wars bar scene. But I saw a great deal of that in NYC too, not so much in Manhattan but certainly in other burroughs. Regardless, Limbaugh was out here in L.A. all last week and was in public a great deal and was never once verbally attacked, spat upon or physically assaulted. He mentioned getting some weird stares in restaurants, but no one was so vile as to attack him. Being a little more laid back out here, people tend to be a little less uptight about politics, even liberals. Much of that time that relaxed attitude about politics manifests itself in apathy which drives me up a wall. But there’s also a bit more civility towards and tolerance of conservatism as a result than apparently is the case in NYC. Take a look at post 48 for an example of your city’s belligerence towards conservatives. Now yes, Hollywood is a definite exception to the tolerance piece, but keep in mind a lot of the Hollywood creeps are from New York, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, etc. Others like Spielberg or George Clooney are from other states. Indeed, a lot of California’s liberals are Northeastern transplants. This was once a conservative state until we were invaded from the East Coast and South of the Border. But anyway, I am not trashing your city because I think it’s a great place. I would certainly not care to express myself openly politically there however. I would definitely feel safer driving in L.A. with a bumpersticker for a GOP presidential candidate than in NYC.
It's a sad state of affairs when a statement like that has to be viewed as a positive thing in what used to be the United States of America.
