Hollywood once eschewed making movies that openly advocated atheism. That is no longer the case.

"The Ledge" is the latest in a series of recent Hollywood films that actively promote atheism. Director Matthew Chapman hopes that his movie will be the "'Brokeback Mountain' moment for atheists."

I hope it’s not a brokeback mountain, praised only by liberals, disgusting half the population.

How do you make a movie about nothing and then promote nothing?

A movie about sexually confused atheists?

It's a movie about an angry and murderous evangelical Christian who gives a randy but sweet atheist who slept with the Christian's long-suffering wife a choice: either the Christian will murder the wife and let the atheist go free, or he will spare the wife if the atheist undertakes a death-defying feat.

It is bigotry masquerading as art and stupidity masquerading as complexity.

From the article: More disinterested reviews of "The Ledge" have generally been negative. All six featured reviewers on Rottentomatoes.com (as of June 28) panned the movie, with varying degrees of disgust. Indiewire.com's seven reviews of "The Ledge" were also uniformly negative. Nuff said.

“’Brokeback Mountain’ moment for atheists.”

How appropriate...I hear everyone’s reaction at “the moment” in the movie was, “EEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!!”

Colonel, USAFR

*the latest in a series of recent Hollywood films that actively promote atheism*

How does this differ from 97% of the movies Hollywood has turned out in the last 40 years?

All right. A short film of someone running around with their head up their ass. Just put a day or two of BHO on a dvd. Call it “Brokeback Barry Sees The Light”

I figured it wouldn’t be so much as promoting atheism or even explaining atheism to the ignorant, but attacking Christianity (note Christianity, not Islam, that would take balls).

Hold on, wasn’t this basic plot already used in one of the episodes of Stephen King’s “Cat’s Eye”? Without the crazy religious undertones.

It’s not even original. Sheesh.

Do yourself a favor. Don’t watch “Paul”. After the first 20 minutes or so, it is a non-stop “let’s make fun of Christians” fest. They only take the occasional break from that theme, only to make fun of rednecks, local gun-toting cops, and neo-fascist FBI agents.

Least creative, yet most inane, movie ever.

That’s the summary, eh? I’m not even surprised. Why don’t they just insert the fag angle just to make it complete.

That’s the summary, eh?

It's the exact same plot as the Stephen King short story of the same name, with the mob boss character replaced by an evangelical.

I really don’t want to imagine an “Atheistback Mountain” poster with the rather primate-face Apple Computer atheist Steve Wozniak and amoral Facebook owner atheist Mark Zuckerberg.

Or with any other assorted mix of other atheists, such as Noam Chomsky, Richard Dawkins, David Suzuki, or Warren Buffet.
