How will he obtain the access to the original documents when no one else is allowed to do so? He is bound by the same statutes that we all are.

Now, iffen y’all think there was an investigation into criminal behavior, then a law enforcement subpoena would be possible if there can be stated sufficient grounds to believe a crime is committed.

If he can ring the bell, I’ll stop and listen.

In Arizona, a sheriff is an elected official and the chief law enforcement officer in any given county. There exists one sheriff for each of Arizona’s 15 counties, with a varying number of deputies and assorted staff (usually dependent on population). A sheriff’s office (the term “department” is not used in Arizona) generally provides law enforcement services to unincorporated towns and cities within the boundaries of their county. In addition, many sheriff’s offices have agreements with the Arizona Department of Corrections (AZDOC) and local police agencies to provide for the transport and detention of prisoners. After sentencing, many convicted persons are handed over to the AZDOC to serve their sentence, but this has not always been the case.

Arizona is unique in that many sheriff’s offices have formed semi-permanent posse units which can be operated as a reserve to the main deputized force under a variety of circumstances, as opposed to solely for fugitive retrieval as is historically associated with the term.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is the currently the largest sheriff’s office in Arizona with a total of 763 sworn officers and 2,735 civilian employees as of 2007. It is headed by Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Unrelated thought...

Any doubt his prisoners respect him more than they respect the Leftists that led them down the path of self-destruction?

From the article:

Tea party leaders in Surprise, Ariz., met with Arpaio and WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi Thursday morning to express concern that a fake birth certificate would be used to document the president’s eligibility to run in Maricopa County, where Arpaio is the chief law enforcement officer.

Maybe Sheriff Joe will arrest BHO and hold him for questioning next time he passes thru his jurisdiction. A pink jumpsuit and baloney sandwiches would be just right.

"How will he obtain the access to the original documents when no one else is allowed to do so? He is bound by the same statutes that we all are."

Any State Court in the nation could subpoena the original if there was a dispute in law that is within their jurisdiction.

It's technically possible for a county Sheriff to initiate such a dispute in law.

Now that has the possibility of leaving a mark.

As they say down here and in the olden days of England "Don't mess with the High Sheriff".

Don’t know who Alan Stang is (appears to be a Ron Paul/libertarian type), but his article has some examples of how powerful a county sheriff is, including a case that went to the Supreme Court and which Scalia commented on. If Arpaio determines that a crime has been committed, he apparently has the right to investigate.
