It’s unfortunate that more folks here aren’t familiar with his work, although they might be very familiar with the work of a guy highly influenced by him: Jimmy Page. Speaking for myself, I have long thought him a great fingerstyle guitarist, and enjoyed his work. If this piques the curiosity of any of my fellow freepers, try these:http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=bert+jansch&aq=0z&oq=bert+

There must not be many fans here. One of the fine folkies of his era, best remembered as an astonishing young guitar player in the sixties.
Thanks for the notice.
RIP Bert
I believe I still have Solomon’s Seal and Reflections.
Will dig them out tomorrow and have a listen.
First I’ve heard of him. He’s very talented. It also appears he was an inspiration to many well-known guitarists. RIP.
I consider The Pentangle’s “Cruel Sister” as the perfect Celtic song. Bert was also a tremendous influence on Donovan’s move to amplified music on his “Sunshine Superman” album. Two songs, “Bert’s Blues” and “House of Jansch” referred to him.
I never listened to Pentangle, because I didn’t get into ‘folk music’ in a big way until the mid 80s. I do like Steeleye Span, so I need to see if I can find some Pentangle music.
Well, I never heard of him but I am learning to play guitar sooo I downloaded his song. There are a lot of these old timey people who I have never heard of who are very good.
RIP.
