Fun rumor of the day: Palin reconsidering?
HotAir ^ | 11/02/11 | Allahpundit

It’s wafer thin but lots of fun to game out, and I figure our resident Palinistas would appreciate having a new reason to believe after last month’s great disappointment. Here you go. The ballot deadlines have passed in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida, which means there are three possibilities. One: It’s not true. Two: It is true but she’s going to run third party, which means she doesn’t have to worry about primary deadlines. Three: It’s true and she’s going to run as a Republican, having been lured back into the race by the vacuum on the right after Perry’s collapse and Cain’s sudden vulnerability. What about NH, SC, and FL, though? Well, in theory she could run hard in Iowa, win there, and then immediately start campaigning in states with later primaries while Romney, Perry, and Cain duke it out over the rest of the early states. That would be awfully risky given the momentum that Romney would have if, as expected, he wins in New Hampshire and Florida, but the media would love the suspense of watching Palin defy the conventional playbook by skipping traditional early “must wins.” Imagine the drama if Romney steamrolled Perry and Cain and turned up on Super Tuesday with only Palin, the Iowa winner, left to stop him. Gut-check time for Republican voters: Would they opt grudgingly for Mitt on grounds that Palin might be unelectable or would they rally to Palin on “Anyone But Romney” grounds? Three words, my friends: Blog. Traffic. Apocalypse.

Did any of the Founding Fathers have a special needs child?

Just asking.

Palin had the perfect storm on her side. Or did she? Maybe, just maybe, Palin had some issues that make the current problems Cain has look like nothing.

It made no sense that she did not run. Unless there was something big in her past.

Intrade Palin futures have doubled in the last week.

Just saying.

You obviously are a follower...”But we need leaders willing to pledge their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. That is a level of commitment Sarah Palin is not willing to make.” Are you running for office? Are you pledging your fortune and your life?

Ron Paul would also be a factor in any scenario.

If Palin announces, she would immediately take Perry’s and Cain’s support.

Whether the Cain sexual harassment stuff is a big deal, or not, it’s worse than anything on the Palin list of non-controversies.

And Perry is just awful.

So, it doesn’t really matter if Palin is on the ballot in NH or not. She would be in the race. And everybody choosing between Palin and Cain would pick Palin.

You have a Romney v Palin v Paul race. Ron Pauls support wouldn’t disappear if Palin got in the race.

Palin could get in really late, win a California or something. Get the brokered convention that way.

You are like a kid throwing a fit because someone will not do for them what you have decided they must do RIGHT NOW!

You seem to think there was but one signer of the declaration who pledged his life and sacred honor. No, it took more than one.

If you think this country is ready for a conservative constitutionalist president this election cycle, you have not been keeping up with political reality.

Your claim that you were as strong a Palin supporter as anybody on planet earth, is total BS!!!

Save it for Sunday, who do you think you are kidding.

With supporters like you, Sarah needs no enemies

May be too late for the primary ballot, but a VP choice can come from anywhere...

Intrade contracts on this are intriguing.

They had been in my opinion too low, (in retrospect they were right) before Palin opted out of running.

Today Palin futures are climbing. Ticked up again just since my previous post.

What’s interesting though, is now there’s a new Palin contract:

Contract name: PALIN.RUN.PRES.DEC11

“Sarah Palin to formally announce a run for President before midnight ET on 31 Dec 2011”

That contract is climbing even faster. Up 30% today.

I hear ya, EH, and I think she handled her opt out on October 5 very poorly. You’re right, we need a president who once nominated or elected won’t say, “Took a poll of my kids and they don’t want me to serve anymore.”

But pols use the family excuse all the time—see Christie and Daniels just this cycle—without it being held against them when circumstances and their minds change. It might be harder for Palin because she’s a woman and therefore some people suspect and expect the family over office choice from her more readily.

Still, she is so clearly the best candidate that we have that were she to jump in and run, I think you and we could dig deep to afford her the same luxury that male pols have with that. No need to dig now, she hasn’t declared and well may not.

But if she does, I think you can.

I think she’s too late for the NH, SC and FL ballots unless the states make an allowance for her. (Or she wages a vigorous write in campaign.) But they all award their delegates proportionally, FL is supposed to be losing half of their delegates, and she’d certainly have lost to Mitt in NH anyway.

It’s late, but she’s still got a chance.

The thinking is among Palin supporters that the Bushtard Establishment is killing the potential opponents to Romney.

They want Romney to win because they know that that guarantees an Obama victory and Jeb Bush in 2016.

Palin could do this with a Winter Campaign, figuring that Conservatives hate Romney and that the guy has a glass jaw.

Best,

Chris

Are you pledging your fortune and your life?

Yeah, ahole. I did that when I was on a combat B-52 crew. And I had a wife and two kids at the time. So stuff it.

Why don't you try making a point instead of just calling names. But that would take a brain.

Either you can't read, or you can't understand what you read. Either way you missed the whole point.

First, thank you, Eternal Hope, for your service to our country.

Second — really?! With the “ahole” stuff?! C’mon.

Third, why so reactionary about Sarah when male politicians use the same excuse not to run (Family) all the time?

Finally, like your “Eternal Hope” moniker. :-)
