Don’t worry Bobl, nobody here will call for you to be zotted for forgetting that the ARTICLE section of a thread contains stuff that is quoted from THE ARTICLE, and that the freeper comments are in the comments section.

The article (actually looks like a blog post to me, not “news/activism”, but that’s another complaint) was written in June. The thread post accurately states when the article was written. People post old stuff all the time — even when they are trying to hijack threads.

a mistake he has since learned to avoid.

Did he learn that yesterday? Because in the past few weeks he still seems to be making the mistake of making statements before he has all the information he needs.

Yep, Cain is like democracy, he's the worst...except for all the others.

At least Perry has a record to judge him on. Imperfect as it may be.

Cain has no governing or legislative record whatsoever to judge him on. All we have to judge Cain on is his rhetoric --- talking out both sides of his mouth on abortion, wanting to kill illegals with an electrified fence, willing to negotiate prisoner exchanges with terrorists like Al Qaeda, pushing for new taxes that would hit seniors and poor folks the hardest and slandering good conservatives. Not to mention Cain poorly handling several different sex scandals from his checkered past.

FWIW. Gardasil never became law. Texans said NO to the TTC. Perry supports E-verify, just not what the Feds are pushing today. Perry allowed the Texas AG to join in the lawsuit in support of the Arizona AZ1070. Perry doesn't support comprehensive immigration reform or blanket amnesty.

It takes homework to find the true facts. If something seems unreal, it normally is.

Did he learn that yesterday?

What did Cain say yesterday that has your undies in a bundle? Or are you just tossing in a "glittering generality" in order to fabricate credibility for your position?

Here is his quote, supplied by a kindly Cain supporter:

I support, strongly support, the 2nd amendment. I don’t support onerous legislation that’s going to restrict people’s rights in order to be able to protect themselves as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment.

Here is the 2nd amendment:

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

So you tell me. Does the 2nd amendment guarantee an individual "the right to protect themselves"?

I would say I think Cain will not vote for restrictive gun laws. But there's been a lot of bad gun laws predicated on the supposition that the 2nd amendment only gives us the right to defend ourselves, so government can restrict guns that aren't "necessary" to defend ourselves, like "assault weapons".

But the actual 2nd amendment's operative language is "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". NOT BE INFRINGED. Unless there is an immediate and compelling government interest related to other rights, people should be allowed to have guns for whatever legal reason they want, not just a handgun kept in their house to protect themselves at home.

And I guess if someone asked Cain that specific question, at least ONCE he'd probably answer correctly. Especially the 3rd or 4th time, after he is told what the correct answer is.

We've seen TWICE on this thread where Cain supporters have excused his original answer because he was inexperienced three months ago but he's much better now. That's the real issue.

The Constitution lists only three qualifications for the Presidency — the President must be 35 years of age, be a natural born citizen, and must have lived in the United States for at least 14 years..

Cain is over 35, a natural born citizen and has been in the US over 14 years...

So what are we missing?

Given what I have seen since Reagan, and before, "Qualified" seems a tick over rated...

“The truth is, I am intrigued and open to the Bush administration’s amnesty proposal. Most Texans would agree that it’s better to have legal, taxpaying immigrants from Mexico working in the United States than illegal immigrants living in fear of the law and afraid to access basic services.” -Rick Perry

“Honest in disinformation...LOL... “

I guess the Perrybots figure that they have to take down Cain before they can go after Newt.

If I were them, I’d be MUCH MORE WORRIED about Huntsman breathing up my back.

You've got a big mouth when complaining about others posts but you refuse to support or even state what your position is. Once more, are Cain and Thomas and Scalia and Alito and Edwards all wrong when they say that States have the authority to put reasonable restrictions on firearms? What is it? Are they all wrong and you're right?
