Yes, the SEC is better than the Big 12.

If A&M would have stayed in the Big 12 Texas would continue to play them.

However, it seems that while Aggies hate Texas, they love the cash they get from playing the Horns.

But, don’t worry. The Longhorns will be fine on Thanksgiving and will likely be playing the Irish.

The Aggies can schedule Texas State.

Aggies aren't going to like being in the bottom of the SEC anymore than being in the bottom of the Big-12 South. Maybe the so-called “Big East” will take them.

They might finish mid-pack there.
(Wish they'd take Mack Brown with them, though!)

The Aggies are like the Battered Wife that files for divorce, but still wants to hook up once a year and take some money.

Spot on about Mack Brown.

We Texas Exes should raise five million a year to get him out of the way.

I've been having some discussions with my Big 12 buddies, and found this interesting information:

Which conference is UNDEFEATED in BCS Championship games?

I’ll give you a hint – it is not the Little 12.

LSU 2-0
Florida 2-0
Alabama 1-0
Auburn 1-0
Tennessee 1-0
Miami (Fla.) 1-1
USC 1-1
Texas 1-1
Florida St. 1-2
Ohio St. 1-2
Oklahoma 1-3
Nebraska 0-1
Oregon 0-1
Virginia Tech 0-1

If A&M would have stayed in the Big 12 Texas would continue to play them.

That is the attitude that the other schools are tired of. If we don't get our way we'll take our ball and go home.

Well, bye.

Aggie resentment of Texas has been prevalent long before ESPN threw a bunch of money at Texas for the Longhorn Network. If they had done the same to A&M, do you really think the Ags would have turned it down? Plus the Longhorn network can’t get takers from TWC, Dish, Direct, Comcast so at least right now it is sort of a non-entity (except in UTs pocket book, of course)

When B12 members complained about having HS games on the network, Texas backed down. When Tech didn’t want to play on the Longhorn Network, Texas backed down. All members of the B12 said they wanted the Aggies to stay.

The Aggies were flirting with the SEC over a year ago when most thought four teams (including the Aggies) were definitely headed to the Pac 10/12/16 or whatever (not the recent rejection but the one over a year ago).

The Aggies defection was the result of a bunch of hotheads (mostly Aggie alumni) that were tired of their status on the totem pole so it was a “we’ll show them a thing or two” by departing from the B12. When your neighbor shines on you and directly or indirectly badmouths you, you don’t invite them back to your house for the Christmas Party.

The fact of the matter is that the Aggies need Texas much more than Texas needs the Aggies and the Aggies know that so they come begging to play again (or be re-invited to the Christmas party).

So the fact is that this rivalry is ending because the Aggies filed for divorce / dissolved the friendship, not Texas. The Aggies decided they were going to look elsewhere to look out for themselves. Texas is merely returning the favor. Egos from the Aggies started this and now ego from DeLoss Dodds is finishing it.

Few people will deny that the SEC is the #1 conference in college football for at least the past few years. Arkansas precipitated the demise of the SWC by joining the SEC back in the early 90s. Not certain but I don’t believe they have won the SEC west since joining it. Playing Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn every year may cause the Aggies to want to join the WAC, Big East, Conference USA, or maybe event the Southland Conference.

I’m a little sad that the rivalry is ending but in reality Texas rivalry with OU surpassed the A&M rivalry a long time ago.

So one last time - 27-25 POOOOOOOOOOR AGGGGIES

Hook’em Horns!

And yes, when you are the team that financially carries the conference, you get a few good calls.

So.... you seem to be suggesting that it's okay for the refs to be corrupt in favor of "the team that financially favors the conference". Did I misread that?

And will be worse after this year. What do you expect when you play in a conference with teams whose stadiums hold 50,000?

UT and Baylor deserve each other.

It looked to me like the Ag was running to the sideline and they merely collided. There was no "hit" intended...nor running into each other...it just happened.

But I wasn't there.

Good bye. I will miss a lot of the good natured fun that our rivalry represents. It’s basically Texas vs Texas kids. We all grow up and it’s not a real hate festival more of a good natured game with a lot of respect.

I still remember the class and affection the Texas student body, the band and the players showed us when we lost those 12 students at the bonfire collapse. it was truly a proud moment to be a Texan and an Aggie to witness the Longhorn class.

Y’all may hate Oklahoma but we just like the competition and of course beating you occasionally. There was greed on both sides and I think the Aggies just decided that the Longhorns weren’t dividing the money pie fairly. So since it’s a free country , we’re walking to the SEC that splits the money evenly to it’s members and see how it works out. I can’t wait to play Alabama, LSU and Florida.

Maybe when cooler heads prevail and the old egos from both sides retire or die , we can resume the game. It’s been fun , good luck and Gig’em Aggies!!!!! Whoop! “79”.

I did not say that it was okay for certain teams to get good calls, I simply suggested that once in a while the elite teams will get a good call.

Texas is an elite program, Texas A&M is not.

Don’t dog on Baylor, they have a great program and a good team.

And Baylor Bears are not the type of folks to run away from the Big 12 with their tail between their legs and cry about the Longhorn Network.

Only cowards run away from a fight and only cowards cry about the Longhorn Network.

“Which conference is UNDEFEATED in BCS Championship games? I’ll give you a hint – it is not the Little 12.”

Here is some other history for you Bubba (rivalry history):
Texas 7 Alabama 1 Tie 1 (it would have been 8-0-1 if McCoy didn’t get hurt)
Texas 56 Arkansas 21
Texas 9 LSU 7 Tie 1
Texas 5 Auburn 3
Texas 2 Florida 0
Texas 2 Tennessee 1

I believe that sums up your SEC heroes vs. the Longhorns with Arkansas thrown in for good measure.

Poll era National Champions 1936 to present (from SEC and Big8/12/SWC)- top ten schools with most national championships
Alabama 8
Oklahoma 7
Nebraska 5
Texas 4
Florida 3
LSU 3

Somebody is ahead 16-14 and it ain’t the SEC.

Here at the University of Texas, we are not Socialists!

However, it would seem that the Aggies, are Socialists as they think wealth should be shared, just like they do is Sweden.

Please tell me why a top tier program like Texas should share their money with the Poor Aggies.

I like the Baylor team. I liked Baylor better before Ken Starr got himself all involved!

“The Aggies did everything they could to lose. But they had a great deal of help from the lousy personal foul call that let the Longhorns get within field goal range. Officials should not be the ones to decide the outcome of the game.”

The Longhorn defense DEE# along with the Aggies el foldo history were the reasons for their defeat. Blaming your team’s defeat on your erroneous perception of a bad personal foul call is ridiculous. There was a clear head to head shot on the receiver. The corner or safety may have tried to avoid it or lessen it but nevertheless it was there. Under the rules that is a penalty. We can argue that the rules are creating flag football but you can’t argue with the interpretation. Plus that call did not get the ‘Horns in field goal range, McCoy’s run did

So quit your typical Aggie whining about blaming the refs for your sad swan song.

Very good analysis.

The Aggies never could understand that A&M was not the Longhorn’s primary rivalry.

The Aggies also underestimated the Longhorn’s desire for a payday and if A&M thought that Texas would want to continue a series with A&M when it could make more money elsewhere, A&M has has proven every Aggie joke to be right on target.

And it is my guess that all the remaining teams in the Big 12 have made an agreement to not play A&M in football for at least another ten years.
