In a press conference this evening, the president referred in stumbling fashion to the English Embassy in Iran instead of the British Embassy. One can only imagine the kind of howls of derision that would greet any presidential contender if that kind of basic error were made before, say, the editorial board of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. You can watch the video above. In case the president is unaware, England forms part of Great Britain, which also includes Scotland and Wales, though not Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom. There is no such thing as an English embassy anywhere in the world, and there hasnt been one for several centuries.

I don’t know. I spoke to a British “african-american” (a little liberal lingo there) once who was in the British Army. The guy had one hell of an English accent. I could hardly understand him.
“When does Harvard, make a disclaimer?”
You kidding Harvard is PROUD of him. Tells you all you need to know about Harvard.
Obama should know the difference between Great Britain and England, he was born in a country ruled by Great Britain.
What a dufus - he has been President for three years and does not know this??? And the Democrats painted George Bush as ignorant!?!?
First, there is England. Then there is "Britain" (England + Wales) which is not a commonly used term. Then there is "Great Britain" (England + Wales + Scotland) Then you have the "United Kingdom" (England + Wales + Scotland + N. Ireland). And then you have the "British Isles" which is all of the above + the rest of Ireland.
Or his hole and an ass on the ground.
Even that woman in the field in Monty Python and the Holy Grail didn’t know who the Britons were,,, and hell, she WAS one.
And then Arthur started repressing her husband.
To which the continentals reply “it’s Groß britannien or maybe groot-Brittannië or possibly Angleterre”. To the Welsh and Bretons it’s still just Britannia which is unfortunately overrun with Sassanach barbarians.
Manx~

When i hear any European insisting on their pure cultural identity, i remember the endless swaths of invasion back to Julius Ceasar, and it’s related breeding-fests,,and i smile.
Half of France has German fathers, Half of Germany has French and Russian forefathers, England and France are a little of everything, and i don’t think even Belgians know what a Belgian actually is.
You kidding?? Harvard is PROUD of him. Tells you all you need to know about Harvard.
Hmmm,, all i could see was the need to add a question mark! No sarcasm intended. Harvard stands solidly behind him, and that tells us all we need to know about Harvard!

Over there, they all all Brits. But do not call them English, because there is the England part of Great Britain-UK.
There is the Scot part of GB and the Irish and the Welsh etc-but they are all Brits. I got educated on that the times I was over there.
Best thing to do is if you are in Scotland to call them Scots, etc. They DO NOT like to be identified as English, which they arent.
