We've seen some terrifying footage from the tsunami and earthquake that struck Japan in March this year, but few manage to capture the full-on terror of the situation like the clip after the jump. The video was taken by a dash camera mounted on a man's vehicle as the tidal waters surged onto the roadway.

Simply amazing.
One wonders what happened to the man in the car in front, who chose to take his chances on foot? It was oddly funny how even though disaster was upon him, that man took another moment to be sure his car door was closed....
Wow! Those are some good windshield wipers.
That semi truck sure went by at a fast clip. All that and snowing as well.
Surreal.

What really gets me near the end of this documentary is about a school of 100 students on the Japanese coast where the teachers couldn’t decide whether to keep the children on school grounds or take them up the hill which was only 100 to 150 feet away. They argued for 40 minutes over that decision. When they finally decided to take the children up the hill the tsunami arrived and took them away.
I think I just witnessed a miracle for this man.
Amazing footage. Things like this always happened to people going back thousands of years, but normally, they were the only witness and the memory died with them. Now, we can all share the mid-disaster POV.
One wonders at the social ramifications of this, along with kids playing “kill the zombie” video games, etc. It really presents humanity with a new way of thinking, not available (except through prose accounts) to prior generations.

All that debris - tons and tons of it is heading for Hawaii and then the West Coast.
