Perry out. We hardly knew ye. Or maybe the problem is we got to know him
The Orange County Register blog Orange Punch ^ | 1-19-2012 | Mark Landsbaum

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, whose stock value might have fallen faster and more dramatically than any Republican in history, has decided to stop running for president.

We liken Perry’s meteoric fall to the old silent movie-era actors once talkies arrived.

“Yikes!” was the response in both cases.

A smile like Joe Isuzu’s and a frown like Leonid Brezhnev’s. Not an easy sell.

Why can’t people just say, “Thank you Governor Perry for your service to running for President. You did good and have a bright future.” Why the cattiness when he dropped out. Doesn’t make a bit of sense.

All that matters today is Perry saying "I ENDORSE/TRUST/FORGIVE Newt!" which is how we true Christians tend to roll... :~)

THANK YOU, Texas (155 delegates) & Gov Perry!

GO NEWT!!!

Speaker Gingrich-led Republicans….the result: * Voting on each of the Contract with America items * Four consecutive balanced budgets * Over $400 billion of debt paid off * Major welfare reform accomplished * 11 million new jobs for America * Unemployment falling to under 4%.

If he would have preformed in the first debate or even the second like he did on Monday, he would be killing Mittens right now. He was very good in that last debate, including the jab at RuPaul about the Gong Show.

"He coulda been a contender."

LOL

Nice try.

But here’s the real truth...

Perry Drops Out. Endorses Newt. Will Campaign and Serve.

Live Thread: Perry Press Conference [Endorses Newt]

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2834946/posts

Perry’s plans to help, going forward.

To shrink the size and scope and power of the Federal Government through his Governors connections and connections with Newt Gingrich.

Positive comments from FReepers thanking the Governor for his action and supporting the contribution to this country he will continue to make.

The more I got to know Rick Perry; the more I liked him. What is the point of a post like this? It reflects on the poster, not Rick Perry. How sad to be so small-minded.

Hope Newt warned Perry of the mob out there who will be salivating to pick over his bones, mock him, and generally denigrate him, but all that carcass eating will come to be as much about Perry’s support for Newt as it will ever be about Rick Perry himself and his failed campaign.

Rick was ill served by his campaign from the beginning and was not anywhere near recovered well enough from his back surgery in Germany to mount a campaign that was already a late entry.

Hat’s off to a conservative who proved it for 10 years and only three bloopers. TEXAS WAS ALWAYS EXHIBIT A.

Perry’s rapid decline and inability to get out of the ditch was Bush’s fault. Seriously, he fell victim to the Bush bumpkin syndrome. We hear over and over again that conservatives are foolishly hoping for another Reagan, but what we are really looking for is our own slickster, a clear speaker, solid debater, no shucks and gollys and good ol’ boy colloquialisms. We are looking for the candidate who won’t embarrass us, and we are going to wind up with a real piece of crap, or Obama, if we don’t get a grip.

I much preferred Rick Perry to the serial adulterer, Newt Gingrich.

At least Texas will have a great Governor for a long time to come, and the guys on Death Row CANNOT breathe a sigh of relief.

Precisely. Not a good way to go through life.

I hope and pray God will bless Governor Perry and Anita. If anyone had any doubt of his character, he showed it today at his press conference. IMO, he stands head and shoulders above the rest. A true conservative, a man of God, a man who loves and respects his wife, and one who puts his country above ego.

He deserves our respect.

Perry was one of several satisfactory choices still in the race, but I’m glad he’s dropping out. This improves our chances of having a real candidate instead of Romney (not that I’m completely thrilled with either Newt or Santorum). I hope that Newt/Santorum will put Perry in his administration, not out of gratitude but out of respect for the character that Perry showed in making this decision while he still had a reasonable shot at moving up in the presidential race.

Gingrich for the first time in his life is in love, and it shows. His civil marriages seem to have happened to him, but he was not otherwise much invested in them. He may be ADD, but he was busy man and un-engaged at home, with wives he had no time for.

He’s a grown up now. But you can cling to the past, pick nits and roll them one by one, nurse at the teat of old news and old loves, if you think that’s the best use of your time.

Adulterers never outgrow their obsessive/compulsive behaviour.

At his age, Newt is way too old to change.

The SC voters will see through the facade of his faux conversion.

This issue is exposing a lot of nasty folks who we used to think were good freepers. You do realize that you’re spitting on a forfession of a man made to God not you, right? Just what sort of public statement would it take to cause a dirty mind like yours to stop accusing the brethren?
