The FDA does delay treatment, unfortunately. I hope your friend’s research is successful.

“Color me naive, or more likely cynical that a cure hasn’t been already found, because a cure could result in billions of lost dollars to many institutions and scientists.”

Far more money can be made and jobs created in TREATING cancer then in curing cancer.

I'm sure if there was ever a real cure for cancer, it would be snuffed out like a candle ... along with the person or persons who invented it.

A friend of mine had a dream that cancer is a spiritual problem, which manifests as a physical one.

I believe that's somewhat true in my case, and I returned to church. However, I know other people completely devoted to their faith who did not make it. Glad your friend's father is doing well.

Perhaps I didn’t make my point clear, your comments back up what I meant.

[I’m sure if there was ever a real cure for cancer, it would be snuffed out like a candle ... along with the person or persons who invented it.]

That was my whole point and why I said ‘color me cynical’.

I’m skeptical, but bump this anyhow.

"I thought 'why not?' 'What is there to lose?'" - Angela Zang

That is a terrific mindset. Most of us place limitations on what we can do without even realizing it and even when we do realize it it is very difficult to break the habit. Her statement reflects unlimited openness to the possibilities and the realism that trying and failing is not a loss.

I understand what you meant.

I have known 4 people who had cancer and none survived. All but 1 had a long and expensive decline till the end.

Color me cynical as well, I hate to be that way, but with all the fund raisers, research and such over the past 40+ years you would think there would be something by now.

...because a cure could result in billions of lost dollars to many institutions and scientists.

I feel the same way. Even in the video they said it would be YEARS before it was tried on humans. I've lost loved ones to cancer, too. Not much consolation for someone who needs a cure now. I hate even thinking this...cancer is a big business.

I agree, and with the greed and the disrespect for life in the world today, we can’t avoid ‘wondering’ about it.

We can’t help being dubious about the decades long search for cures without big results. So many would be willing to try ‘anything’ as a last resort, yet the government holds back on even that.

Expecting the drug companies to do this is like expecting an energy company to come up with a viable alternate energy source.

It's gotten to the point where there are non-stop hospital commercials offering coupons and advertising for their "special renowned treatments" Of course what they don't tell ya is ya better have the best heath insurance, or they'll take everything you own including your home, if ya happen to still have equity left.
