No, candidates don’t have to lie and mislead people. What Romney said is factually incorrect, based upon the koran and the history of islam.
Candidates don’t have to be blunt, but we have every right to expect them to speak truthfully. It’s ridiculous that anyone would give him a pass on this.

You could say nearly anything is not “inherently violent”. Street gangs are not “inherently violent”, in that not every member or even every gang is necessarily violent. Even the Manson Family wasn’t “inherently violent”, since they had plenty of members who never hurt anyone and just spent most of their time singing songs, having sex, and doing drugs.

No, I’m not a Romney support. If he said that he was ok with the Ground Zero Mosque, I would criticize him. No top candidate will say Islam is inherently evil. They don’t have to change what they say in front of different crowds.
