The Whispers in the Loggia blog (WITL) has obtained a bishops-only internal briefing that was circulated soon after President Obama’s announcement of his HHS regulation “compromise.”...what follows “is the text of tonight’s internal, bishops-only briefing, obtained by Whispers and signed by the aforementioned quintet: the conference president, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan of New York, and the bench’s committee chairs for Pro-Life Activities, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo of Galveston-Houston; Doctrine, Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington; Domestic Policy, Bishop Stephen Blaire of Stockton, and the newly-formed arm on Religious Liberty, Bishop William Lori of Bridgeport.” Here is the briefing:

Catholics walked away from adoption without a fight.

In Illinois, the State physically removed the children while the Church's case was on appeal. What would you have the Church do, kidnap the kids back after their legal remedies were exhausted?

And the federal government is going to go to Catholic hospitals and schools one at a time with SWAT teams and remove the administrators just the same way and bring in their own people.

It's getting a little unnerving to read these types of threads here, when coming to find people of like mind on this issue, I'm increasingly feeling the opposite.

You can take it any way you like - this isn't a forum for you to accept what facts make you feel comfy and ignore those that do not.

I cannot read your mind as to why the fact that a majority of Catholics supported Obama (and voted for him) in 2008 upsets you so much. But the fact remains - Catholics voting Democrat get a large portion of the credit (or blame as it were) for this horrific band of tyrannical despots we now have in Washington.

Look at those numbers long and hard. Study them. Notice the massive difference in Evangelical vs. Catholic voting percentages. Why is this?

I use to be a Catholic, and I was surrounded by "loyal Democrat" Catholics who spoke about being "good Catholics" - but could care less what the Bible said. The ultimate authority for all morality is God, and the Bible is His word.

Perhaps you are uncomfortable being associated with millions of other voters who clearly lack common footing and are deceived by Obama and Democrats? If so, I think that is a good thing. I do applaud the Bishops finally standing up to Obama on this one issue, but my enthusiasm is muted for two reasons:

1. This is late to the game. Really - it took this long (and this issue) for their Community Organizer Love glasses to fog over?

2. If someone could not see through Obama in 2007/2008, they don't have the sense of discernment that God give us (Isaiah 8:19-20).

Yeah, well I hope he drips out something we don’t already know. Look at the slideshows I have of Obama smoking dope!
I believe it’s something he’s saying or promoting when he was still in college.

Not what you said -- I guess you're not big on "fine" distinctions.

You have to remember that the bishops take as a first premise that every human being conceived is made in the image and likeness of God, that God loves each of us immeasurably -- and expects us to aspire toward loving one another, that nations are provisional and temporary, while individuals last forever.

Stop being lame and dishonest: You dismissed all Catholics, not just the 54% you cited or the pols you listed. Such a dismissal is decidedly NOT the mark of a follower of Christ.

I'm guessing you didn't go to the link and read the whole testimony. I'm also guessing there is nothing I can post to open your eyes to the socialist/progressive ideology of the bishops.

You have to remember that the bishops take as a first premise that every human being conceived is made in the image and likeness of God, that God loves each of us immeasurably -- and expects us to aspire toward loving one another, that nations are provisional and temporary, while individuals last forever.

I know this. I also know the bishops don't care about sovereignty or borders. They also want taxpayers to subsidize, through "programs", the existing welfare state.
