Mozy works well. I had to ask them to get my docs back after a crash and the process was smooth and completed in about 7 minutes. I had tried to sign up for Carbonite but found it so difficult I just stopped trying. I had a password issue and they just kept ignoring my Emails. Finally I turned to Mozy - good move.

Kim Komando has been advertising Carbonite much longer than Rush. She has a Saturday radio show 7-10 AM PST. Oh! Did I mention she “cut her teeth” at IBM?
Here is an interesting article by Kim that everyone might wish to read: http://www.komando.com/tips/index.aspx?id=12120
The article explains why the FBI might make it difficult to get online March 8.

I have McAfee total protection for my 3 computers. It has a cloud based back-up as a standard feature.

Now would be a good time for some smart competitor to run an ad campaign with Rush.

I’m guessing Carbonite will sell off even more today. Rush was by far the biggest name associated with them, and they haven’t been doing very well since their beginning. And the overwhelming majority of Rush listeners are big, big supporters. I think they cut their throat with this stupid move.

I have been poopooing all the wise guys that say they have their own backup, but that is worthless in event of a natural disaster or fire. So you take a backup of your home computer and keep it at your desk at work, and a backup of your work computer you take home. Any disaster that completely destroys both locations will mean you have bigger things to worry about than your data.
If you work from home, substitute "some nearby relative or bank safe deposit box".

Whats really scary about this slut thing is the fact that its THE 0BAMA REGIME in conjunction with George Soros hit-squad organizations THAT IS STRONG-ARMING THESE COMPANIES INTO ABANDONING RUSH.And as I mentioned before, it's really a win/win for them. They are anti-business anyway, so destroying a few businesses while trying to take Rush down is a bonus. That the businesses are ignorant enough to participate in their own destruction is mind blowing.
True, they would have had to face having their Facebook pages littered with incoherent rambling trash, but they are getting that anyway AND losing their real customers on the right.
A simple statement of "while we don't necessarily agree with the statement, we support Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Association." should have been all that was necessary.

I’m kicking myself for not shorting them when I found out they pulled their advertising.
The opposite is also true, and Rush has alluded to it by saying he can’t comment on it. (see “apophasis”)
New advertisers’ stock shoots up upon announcement of their sponsorship of Rush.

If Carbonite goes under because of this, what do you think will happen to your data?

I had the same thought, so, you are not alone. Not being a daily player, or even really pay attention to the stock market every day, I didn't have the thought till yesterday.
I'm sure there are plenty that did so immediately upon hearing the news. We'll see where the bottom is.

I went to a “cash position” on most of my savings/retirement stuff several months ago.
We’re looking at a severe overall crash coming up,
and it won’t be pretty.

We have a fire proof safe where we store our backup drive. Better safe than sorry and we don't have to pay a monthly fee to a Marxist pos company. I use Time Machine on my Mac . . . but you make an excellent point about physical security. Wonder if theres a way to use Time Machine to make multiple backups . . . Or maybe I should just get a second drive and periodically back up my Documents file and my photos . . .

I got out a couple years ago. The stock market just didn't seem real to me anymore. I only kept a few hundred cheap shares of a small biotech flu vaccine manufacturer, hoping to hit it big someday, like the lottery.
I also agree about the crash, have thought so for awhile. Although world economies keep chugging along somehow, it just seems like it could all come tumbling down, with just one significant event. Like a snowball rolling down a hill.
