FRs own ChocChipCookie (Lisa Bedford) has joined the ranks of published authors with the release of her book Survival Mom. As many of you know Lisa is no typical soccer mom who spends her days running from little league to dance class with trips to the mall in-between. No though Lisa does do all those things (though the trips to the mall are far more infrequent than trips to the gun range) Lisa mostly spends her days prepping and teaching others to prep for what ever may come, Lisa is a what I would call a Saber-Tooth Tiger Mom and any body messing up her den or troubling her cubs had better expect to feel her wrath!
I recently got a copy of her new book and I assure you it well earns it place along side the other tomes in a good preppers library.
The book is laid out in a good logical order of priorities with pages at the end of many of the chapters with list of things to do or places to make notes of action items that you need to address or things you might want to do more research on.
The book covers well all the basics survival/prepping topics, but Lisa also does a good of covering the daily mundane things from personal finances to cleaning tips not just how to take on and defeat the coming zombie hoards using only a can opener, some powder eggs and 100 yards of para-cord, which by the way I think she covers in chapter 13 or 14. As I said in addition to plenty of prepping information there is plenty of common sense day in and day out things here we all can and more than likely should do.
Dont let the title fool you theres plenty of stuff here for us Survival Dads as well, but where we have had plenty of books written with a mans concerns and point of view in mind its good to see and read many of these issues in a different light. Many of us preppers are family men and face it we all know If Mom aint happy aint nobody happy, so its well that we take in and note the aspects of prepping from all sides.
Since taking over the Preppers Ping List here on FR (which I inherited from ChocChipCookie by the way because she was busy writing a book, you are welcome Lisa!)one of the things that I have heard from many of the male preppers is: "Well I am prepping, but I just can get my wife into it. Do you have any ideas?" or even some have gone as far as to say: "My wife thinks I am CRAZY for doing it!"
Well here you go guys here is a way to introduce your wife to prepping from a womens perspective, one thats not so heavy with the doom and gloom and zombies, but one written in a way that most women can easily relate to, one that will make them realize that when the chips are down if they are prepared theres a little bit of 'Sarah Conner' in every woman ready and waiting to kick a little A of anyone or any 'zombie' that tries to mess with her family.
Preppers’ Ping!
My copy came in the mail yesterday! I am really looking forward to devouring it.
