‘I Think You Have to Be Realistic’: Gingrich Calls Romney ‘The Most Likely Republican Nominee’
The Blaze ^ | April 98 2012 | Madeliene Morganstern

GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich acknowledged Sunday that rival Mitt Romney is most likely to come away with the party’s nomination, saying he would support him if he does.

“I think you have to be realistic,“ the former House Speaker said about his own struggling campaign on ”Fox News Sunday” according to Politico. “Given the size of [Romney's] organization, given the number of primaries he’s won, he is far and away the most likely Republican nominee.”

At 660 delegates, the former Massachusetts governor has more than half the delegates needed to clinch the nomination. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum has 281 and Gingrich has 135.

“If he does get to 1,144 delegates, I’ll support him,” Gingrich said.

It’s a different tone for Gingrich, who has vowed to remain in the race through the Republican National Convention this summer. Saying the “primary goal of the entire Republican Party has to be to defeat Barack Obama,“ Gingrich indicated he would take on a surrogate role to ”do everything I can this fall to help [Romney] beat Obama.”

Gingrich, whose campaign saw several surges but has limped along since Super Tuesday, said he has “no regrets” about his decision to run but said it turned out to be “much harder” than he thought it would be.

“I’m glad I did this. For me it was important as a citizen to try to do some very important things to try to bring new ideas and new approach,” he said. “It was the right for me to do in both my life and where I thought the country was.”

Wrong, but interesting.

Oh really? How exactly did Mitt Romney "remove" Sarah Palin "from consideration" for the Republican nomination? Hmmm? *rolls eyes*

Clueless and projecting. I will not be alone in my refusal to sell my soul for a Victory for people that will continue the march to evil and communism.

McCain was at least pro-life and a war hero. But I didn’t vote for him, I voted for Sarah. I will not pull the lever for the abortionist/socialist big government RINO Romney. And I don’t care who he selects as a running mate. Never again.

FUMTR!! FUGOP!!

So, if that time comes, will we still be "with Newt"?

what complete nonsense ... that Newt Gingrich is Willard's stalking horse ...

the best evidence is that Willard was forced to spend tens-of-millions for negative "carpet-bombong" ads against Newt in Florida and elsewhere ...

Santorum is best qualified for that "stalking horse" role, since it was Pastor Ricky who so enthusiastically endorsed Romney ...

"Facts be Facts, Bro ..."

OMG.......LMAO...sorry but I don't like Romney either. But I don't make things up like you did.

Herman Cain can blame his bimbos
Palin kept us all hanging on would she or wouldn't she, Romney had nothing to do with Palin and her long, way too long decision not to run. LOL

Bachmann had a probelm with reality when she made up a woman she supposedly talked to about Rick Perry.

Sorry I am not burying your baloney about the rino Romney. Look we have enough on him that we do not have to lie and make things up. It only hurts our side when a person says things like you said.

We all waited a long time for this election. I wish and still am praying but it does seem Romney is going to be the GOP candidate. I would love to see Rick Perry as the candidate but the reality is not going to be Perry.

First of all... every dime willard paid to buy endorsements have been published and Rush and Levin quoted the donations to these endorsers PACS. Second... romney did feed the fever attacks against every single candidate that was competitive... he did it with robo calls and spreading his money around to keep the story in the news... especially on Cain and Palin. Bachmann had her problems too... that is for certain but mitt has spent 10’s of millions attacking every single republican challenger with lies and distortions and everything that I said that he did... he did. I am not a liar nor a progressive. I do not know what you are but about me... you are wrong.

We also have a money trail leading to romney and romney operatives dropping bombs on Palin... and his people worked for mccain and started attacking her as she ran as his running mate. If you deny these things... then it is you that are a liar and a mitt-ite.

We covered the bimbo charges. All of them led back to Obama's corrupt practices go-to guy, David Axelrod who seems to know more than his fair share of financially troubled women who will claim just all sorts of things about a man for a price.

His wife might look into where he got that expertise.

Gingrich says that because he's a politician. I don't say that because I'm not.

Still, there's no way Romney can win a presidential election without getting the Republican base voters to vote for him ~ and that's simply not likely.

This guy isn't likeable.

My personal suspicion is that the Mitbots at the top contacted people to call in untraceable death threats to the Palins.

If Romney had the slightest interest in implementing a Conservative agenda he’d drop out of the race now.

The Republican Party has been captured by the left. It is no longer a true opposition to the Democrats. Its works in tandem with that party to enslave us.

The Tea Party has lost this battle. The socialist/ Marxists have won it.

There is the real political battle- between the Tea Party and the ruling Marxist elite. Voting Republican or Democrat only empowers our enemy.

In November only Obama or Romney will have a chance to win the presidency. You want four more years of Obama? Then you know what to do.

Yep, I'll vote for neither and do a write in....my conscious wil be perfectly clear on that note. Put the blame on the GOP for this....and the media democrates. I'll not be a part of watching either of these men take our country down...and they both will do so.

Nope. Who do you think "the GOP" is? It's people. Millions of people, not just their elected representatives in Washington and statehouses across the country. Who do you think is voting for Romney? People. Millions of ordinary, everyday people. Nobody is holding guns to their heads to vote for anyone.

Whoever you vote for, or don't vote for, that's your business.

Fewer are voting for Mitt than for the others. In Virginia over one million just stayed away from the primary given the only choice was between Mitt and a crazy guy (although the crazy guy got a lot of votes).

So far Mitt with his leftwingtard philosophies have not shown any ability to attract real Republicans.

He'd best drop out now before people realize that the Mormons want to put Obama back in office for another term.

Now wouldn't that be ironic!
