I don’t like it either, but I don’t obsess over them. I just clean my stuff regularly and employ reasonable protections and take reasonable precautions. I dang sure don’t click anything hinky unless I’m in a sand-boxed environment (just a window away).
So, I can sleep at night... :-)
The longer the reply the more the reply is without doubt twisted logic, such as yours.
The fact remains, using FR to increase your blog traffic is blog pimping and theft as you are using another web site (FR) to generate traffic for your own.
FR allows blog postings when they are in line with FR’s own purpose, and that’s just fine, but to excerpt and do other things on FR to drive traffic to your own site is blog pimping. It costs money, my money too, to run FR and to use FR for your own blog purposes is theft.
>>...Nobody wants anybody banned....<<
I stand corrected! It must be your sweet, “humble” disposition that makes it merely seem like you’re badge-heavy and ban-happy.
Perhaps one day I’ll catch you actually contributing to the discussion (hopefully genially), rather than interrupting the discussion with another of your typically disproportionate, irascible admonishments for “excerpting”, seemingly trying your level best to turn away contributors and alienate readers, perhaps thinking (bless your heart) that you are doing the opposite.
Benefit of the doubt: I’m presuming you are capable of either.
Now given your posting history that I have observed, contributing to the discussion (hopefully genially) might also be a very, very hard concept for you in particular to grasp. So while I might be able to re-phrase that for you if needed, it would probably take a heroic effort to *understand* it for you.
You use a hell of a lot of words to say very little.

What? Did you want me to excerpt my reply? I thought it was pretty straight forward and in fact I even dumbed it down a bit by demonstrating step-by-bloody-step how I figured this. How is the logic twisted? Or is it that you just can’t refute it? Now, don’t get all huffy. You threw down a gauntlet with your claim of web-traffic-theft-by-blogger and I just picked it up and tossed it right back at you.
There is the chance that actual metrics compared from both sites may prove me wrong, but I doubt it. A back of a napkin quick guesstimate shows FR likely benefits from an excerpted post (speaking just in terms of web traffic) either evenly or better. I would bet there is a bias to “better”. A big bias. Unless the blog is HYOOOOGELY popular, as in “more popular than FR” and that would probably be a rare occurrence.
So, when FR comes out ahead in web-traffic, does that mean FR is in the bloggers debt and FR is stealing from the blogger? No. That is just as absurd and wholly unfounded as accusing the excerpting blogger of theft from FR. It just means that the arrangement benefits both (as it should) and FR likely comes out ahead.
Explain how it could be different? Take as much room as you like. I won’t resort to accusing you of twisted logic unless I can point it out specifically. Remember, FR is getting web traffic while we argue this, so this should really be a “revenue positive” excerpt post by now!
Now if an excerpted post is just a “crooked picture” that bugs you because you can’t “straighten it”, or you *like* to scroll through long articles to get to the discussion, or some other personal reason, then that’s another issue entirely and all I can say is that opinions will vary. But accusing “theft” is just silly, which is the point I’m addressing here. And it’s easy. No twisted logic required.
So I got it down to a level you can understand? Happy to help!
No, no, you're fine.
It's more that we just hate you, personally.
Now THAT I can work with. :)
Did I say hate? I meant love.
We love you.
