Power Grab for Natural Gas – New Executive Order
Canada Free Press ^ | April 14, 2012 | Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh

It was Friday the 13. If you are superstitious, then the new Executive Order issued yesterday, “Supporting Safe and Responsible Development of Unconventional Domestic Natural Gas Resources” must give you pause.

The order states, “While natural gas production is carried out by private firms, and States are the primary regulators of onshore oil and gas activities, the Federal Government has an important role to play by regulating oil and gas activities on public and Indian trust lands, encouraging greater use of natural gas in transportation, supporting research and development aimed at improving the safety of natural gas development and transportation activities, and setting sensible, cost-effective public health and environmental standards to implement Federal law and augment State safeguards.”

Because natural gas produced 25 percent of our energy in 2011, the federal government must control this source of energy in order to deliver on the promise of making gasoline prices rise to $10 per gallon, bankrupt the coal industry, and cause energy prices to skyrocket.

An interagency working group is tasked to “facilitate coordinated Administration policy efforts to support safe and responsible unconventional domestic natural gas development.” This working group bureaucracy will be chaired by the Director of the Domestic Policy Council and has several curious members that have no direct involvement with natural gas production:

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Government; Politics
KEYWORDS: energy; epa; naturalgas; regulation
"While Americans focused their attention on the Colombian controversy involving U.S. Secret Service agents, prostitutes and excessive drinking, President Obama quietly signed his latest Presidential Executive Order.

So basically this new executive order says that the states have control, but not really!

it must really piss Obama off to see private corps making money and him not getting his cut. Once again they will regulate the hell out an industry essentially killing it.

This is not the same gas that we use in our cars right?? If that is true, it has nothing to do with prices at the pump.

I smell a new big tax coming on.

...improving the safety of natural gas development and transportation activities...

... because clearly evil private companies don't care if it goes boom, kills people, destroys property and the environment.
Only the all-benevolent Federal Government can be trusted with such responsibility. /sarc

Safety, something nobody can object to, is only an excuse for yet another takeover.
Does anybody believe the gov't can actually make anything safer?

Can’t these threads be linked or something?

The duplications don’t do any good in showing how many people see this as important. Fractions destroy critical mass, consensus and critical debate.

You’d better smell NO ELECTRICITY since obastard has put us on a path to

No coal for electricity

No nuclear for electricity

and he is working on the last resource that is viable

NO natural gas for electricity

all in the name of appeasement of the loony left and kickbacks to fund his campaign coffers from “green energy”.

“This is not the same gas that we use in our cars right?? If that is true, it has nothing to do with prices at the pump.”

Natural gas is not gasoline so in that you are correct.

However, as many industrial users of fossil fuel can use either NG or Oil (from which gasoline is made) if more NG is available at a lower cost than oil, more industrial users will use NG leaving more oil to be refined into gasoline and unless our government gets involved market forces “SHOULD” be in play.

I emphasize “SHOULD” as while I am a dyed in the wool capitalist, big business of any type CAN be just as dangerous and detrimental as big government.

I still find it amazing that oil companies can pay for all the following and still keep a gallon of gasoline close to a gallon of completely renewable MILK.

Search for oil in some rather unpleasant places requiring millions in equipment and many man hours.

Once located, drill and hope for success again with millions in equipment and many man hours.

If successful transport that oil via pipeline, trucks, ships all requiring millions in equipment, infrastructure and many man hours.

Refine this oil all while battling the EPA and every pencil neck geek environmentalist using millions of dollars worth of equipment and many man hours.

Now transport that refined fuel via pipelines through many states then truck the fuel to thousands of gas stations.

At every step of the way you have some government slug with their hand in your pocket for fees, licences, bribes, etc.

While I believe there is some (maybe a lot) collusion, government by far is causing more problems than they are fixing. If we could reign in the speculators somewhat that might help.

It was Friday the 13. If you are superstitious, then the new Executive Order issued yesterday, “Supporting Safe and Responsible Development of Unconventional Domestic Natural Gas Resources” must give you pause.

As near as I can tell, little bammy wants to destroy it.

Right from the White House itself.

The Interagency Working Group to Support Safe and Responsible Development of Unconventional Domestic Natural Gas Resources will be chaired by the Director of the Domestic Policy Council

Oh yeah, you guessed it, here it comes...

Director of Domestic Policy Council Cecilia Muñoz

Cecilia Muñoz is the President’s Domestic Policy Advisor and the Director of the Domestic Policy Council, which coordinates the domestic policy-making process in the White House. Previously, Ms. Muñoz served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Cecilia served as Senior Vice-President for the Office of Research, Advocacy, and Legislation at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the nation’s largest Latino civil rights organization. She supervised NCLR’s policy staff covering a variety of issues of importance to Latinos, including civil rights, employment, poverty, farmworker issues, education, health, housing, and immigration. Her particular area of expertise is immigration policy, which she covered at NCLR for twenty years.

Ms. Muñoz is the former Chair of the Board of Center for Community Change, and served on the U.S. Programs Board of the Open Society Institute and the Board of Directors of the Atlantic Philanthropies and the National Immigration Forum.

Ms. Muñoz is the daughter of immigrants from Bolivia and was born in Detroit, Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and her master’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley. In June 2000, she was awarded a MacArthur Foundation fellowship in recognition of her work on immigration and civil rights. In 2007, she served as the Towsley Foundation Policymaker in Residence at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. She has received numerous other awards and recognitions from various sources, including the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, and a variety of local non-profit organizations.

So... what the ???

I do not see a single item that is any indication whatsoever that she should have ANY input into the management and regulation of the u.S. natural gas industry.

She is pretty much a race pimptress for LaRaza and apparently never had never had a job outside of government (taxpayer) funded "affirmative action" giveaway programs.

So, OF COURSE she will be put in charge of all policy decisions of the entire u.S. natural gas industry.

OF COURSE

In the statement, Obama is talking about this being the saviour of the price of gasoline...for your car.

I read it a couple of times...and it looks like he is inferring thast this is the same kind of gas we put in our car. Can he be that stupid??

Do we need to ask??

Knowing the man there are only 2 possible answers to your question. Yes he is that stupid or he is deliberately trying to destroy the USA by cutting off our access to energy.

As much as I detest him, I don’t for a minute think he is stupid. It is what he believes is so wrong and proven wrong by history. His actions are deliberate. Like my favorite president once said, “it is not they don’t know much its much of what they know is not true”.

If we really wanted to tackle the gasoline situation, we could do it starting today. We have existing technology to make cars dual fuel use NG and Gasoline and there are even conversion kits on the market to do just that.

If you had dual use flexibility, then the country could start converting existing gas stations to supplying NG.

As more and more gas stations offered NG or gasoline you would run your car more frequently on NG which is a better fuel for the engine and for the environment.
