New U.S. Embassy Compound at Hague: Cost Creeps Close to Quarter-Billion
U.S. Trade & Aid Monitor ^ | April 30, 2012 | Steve Peacock

The U.S. State Dept. today revealed that it has begun searching for contractors to design and build a new embassy compound at The Hague in The Netherlands, a project that could cost as much $210 million, according to its own estimates.

Development of the 10-acre site will include a new office building, Marine security guard quarters, shops annex, utility building, "perimeter security, vehicle and pedestrian access control facilities, utility building, surface parking and a vehicular emergency egress bridge," according to a solicitation that U.S. Trade & Monitor located via routine database research.

State's Bureau of Overseas Building Operations first will pre-qualify potential contractors before releasing a more detailed Request for Proposals. Vendors must submit statements of interest by May 30.

I’m sure the GSA will send at least 10 staffers over there 5 or 6 times for site surveys, fact finding, etc, etc.

Sorry, but no amount of tinkering, adjusting or conservative blogging will stop this out-of-control Gov’t.

In fact, I am convinced that it will actually speed-up until the the very day the USA hits bankruptcy. Then it will end.

I wish I could say I disagree with you, but I cannot. I maintain hope that a vigilant citizenry can make a difference, but I have my doubts. As long as we keep paying our taxes, they will steal our money no matter how much passive resistance we employ simultaneously.

Cool! If it's finished while Holder is still Attorney Corporal the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld war criminals can be sent there for trial.

(end sarcasm)
