Arizona Secretary of State Threatens to Remove Obama from Ballot
White House Dossier ^ | May 18, 2012 | Keith Koffler

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett is threatening to keep President Obama’s name off the state’s ballot in November unless he receives confirmation from Hawaii that it has a valid birth certificate on file for him.

Bennett, who spoke to Arizona radio host Mike Broomhead Thursday, said he requested the confirmation eight weeks ago and has not gotten it. Hawaii, he said, does not have to supply a certified copy of the birth certificate, merely send him an email confirming that it has one.

Asked by Broomhead if he would remove Obama’s name from the ballot if Hawaii fails to comply, Bennett said: “That’s possible. Or the other option would be that I would ask all the candidates, including the president, to submit a certified copy of their birth certificate.”

Despite overwhelming evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii, the issue of his birth continues to dog him. Thursday, Breitbart Big Government reported on a promotional booklet by Obama’s own literary agency listing him as having been born in Kenya.

Bennett said Hawaii law permits government officials to request verification of possession of a birth certificate in lieu of a certified copy.

“They could say yes tomorrow and the whole thing goes away,” Bennett said. “If they can’t say yes to that simple question, than it makees we wonder if we have to take it to another level. One way or another, we have to have some simple verification that people are qualified for the office if they’re going to be on the ballot here in Arizona.”

The response time required by law for requests of easily-retrieved records is 10 business days at the very most, according to the OIP.

If Ken Bennett has waited 8 weeks then he’s been given his answer. Hawaii cannot verify a legally-valid birth record for Obama.

It’s time for the next step.

You are correct on this, the whole point! The onus is on you and I to prove up ourselves as required for certain laws, and this standard needs to be applied to Odumbo as well. If HE cannot find a valid BC, he does not meet the requirements. Period.

“However, some poor scumbag (or sucker) has to send that email, thereby putting their neck on the line.”

Yeah, that is so true. How’d you like to be that guy?

That’s terrific news too.

They’ve backed themselves into a corner so that it will have to be Fuddy herself. Janice Okubo told me that they don’t issue letters of verification; their Certification of Live Birth IS their “verification”. So if they send a letter of verification it will have to be another “exception” as determined by Fuddy.

That woman is going to rot in jail a good long time if we can get Obama out of office and if we can get an Attorney General who has anything but contempt for the rule of law.

Any request regarding Obama automatically goes to Janice Okubo initially. She’s another person who will rot in jail a long time if we ever get justice...

“They’ve backed themselves into a corner”

Yeah, and after eight weeks they still can’t get SOMEONE to push the send button.

Based on my experience, I’d say they are going to deny they ever got Bennett’s request.

I’m trying to get an urgent message to him so that he knows that if they haven’t responded at all they will deny having received it - even if it was sent by certified mail that they signed for.

If he has received communications indicating that they got the request, they have far surpassed their 10-business-day deadline to respond, and Bennett will have to either get the OIP to make them respond or else file a lawsuit.

Well, it’s one thing to blow off the piddly-peon-serfs but it’s quite another to blow off the Arizona SOS.

I don’t think that game will work with the Arizona SOS.

What cracks me up is this EIGHT weeks of waiting. What does SOS Bennett think of that I wonder? I also wonder if there have been any exchanges between HI and Bennett since sending off that request? He doesn’t mention any. I have to wonder if he got some sort of a receipt at least.

How many weeks is he willing to wait for his answer? Since he has already publicly stated that he will take ANY assurance, no matter how slight, from HI - I’m surprised they haven’t just re-sent those old press releases to him. I’m thinking he will accept those. I’m thinking he would accept anything just to get out from under this.

I think Bennett wants to be very sure that whatever he does withstands the legal scrutiny he’s sure to get. He wants to be very sure to obey the law. I can respect that.

I think he’s thinking that the 8-week delay means the HDOH isn’t going to answer, and so he’s emphasizing that he’s not asking much and still the HDOH isn’t delivering. He probably has no clue who he’s dealing with at the HDOH, or their willingness to stall for months and then when backed into a corner deny that they ever received a request that their own signature is on. Same kind of audacity/crap as Eric Holder.

I’m actually hoping the HDOH turns on their characteristic “charm” and pisses him off just like they pissed me off. I started to open my big mouth on this issue in response to THEIR lawlessness and obfuscation on requests that should have been so simple. I just hope they use their uncanny ability to influence people and make friends. lol. Can’t wait until they tell Bennett they don’t have to respond to him because he’s officially a “vexatious requestor”. lol

I hope Bennett had received some kind of confirmation that they got his request so he can nail them to the wall.

I sure hope not. As I just said in another post, I can’t wait for the HDOH to tell Bennett they don’t have to respond to him because he’s a “vexatious requestor”. lol.

What’s funny, IMHO, is that the whole bluster with Abercrombie in Dec of 2010 was to try to keep Arizona’s newly-elected state legislature from thinking they needed to pass an eligibility bill. That’s basically what Abercrombie implied in his public statements - that there was going to be a problem with the eligibility bills and he wanted to avert those problems ahead-of-time.

Abercrombie was going to use the media to bring out a forgery that wouldn’t be subject to evidentiary requirements. But his own HDOH Director, Neal Palafox, apparently balked. There’s one person in Hawaii who has integrity. Yay!! So Abercrombie wasn’t ready to release a forgery when the Star-Advertiser columnist asked how the investigation was going, and he balked badly, afraid of making claims he could never live up to and which could land him in jail - which caused Mike Evans to say WTH? and call up his buddy Abercrombie for the scoop. Abercrombie must have assumed that Mike Evans had gotten the memo, that the media is supposed to protect Obama. But somebody forgot to give Evans the memo - he sincerely bought into the media’s BS about Obama being eligible - and there was still at least one media member with integrity. Yay!!! (Of course, he changed his tune very soon afterwards but he’s denials were clearly known from the actual audio of what he had said). And that all led to Trump...

So it was the threat of Arizona having balls that got us this far. And now I’m praying that Arizona really does have balls. They are fast becoming my favorite state, and that’s hard to say coming from a Husker. =)

Arizona SOS: ‘I am not a birther’

http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/05/arizona-sos-i-am-not-a-birther-123897.html

This afternoon, his office released a statement from the Republican seeking to tamp down the controversy — though not really walking back the core of his original comments.

“First, I have been on record since 2009 that I believe the President was born in Hawaii. I am not a birther,” Bennett said. “At the request of a constituent, I asked the state of Hawaii for a Verification in lieu of certified copy. We’re merely asking them to officially confirm they have the President’s birth certificate in their possession and are awaiting a response.”

Asked specifically if he would keep Obama off the ballot, Bennett said “that’s possible.” He said he was surprised at how challenging it has been to get a response from Hawaii officials.

Check this article out:

Sec. of State: Citizen requests require asking for Obama birth verification

http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/arizona/politics/article_43041898-a11f-11e1-909e-001a4bcf887a.html

Bennett, who is the state’s chief election official, said he has had multiple requests from constituents to verify the president is a “natural born citizen” and therefore eligible to hold the highest office in the land. Those requests, he said, included that he demand to see the actual birth certificate and even to go to Hawaii to do a forensic examination of it to determine its authenticity.

He said he rejected those requests. But Bennett said he learned that Hawaii has a law which allows that state to do a verification for any officials from other states who have the need.

“I downloaded the form off of Hawaii’s web site, I got a $5 money order and filled it out and basically sent it in,” he explained. “What you’re asking for really is for them to say, yes we have — or do you have — a certificate for Barack Hussein Obama II born on Aug. 4, 1961 to these parents at this place and on and on and on.”

Bennett said if he eventually gets the verification, end of the matter. And if he does not?

“I don’t think it does anyone any good to speculate the worst case scenario,” he said.

“I think Hawaii will, one way or the other ... will confirm or verify that they have a certificate for the president,” Bennett continued. “And it’s done.”
