Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett wants you to know that he is not a birther, but he says he wants proof of Barack Obama’s citizenship before putting his name on the Arizona ballot.
In a radio interview today, Bennett said he is just doing his job of making sure “that those people whose names are on the ballot have met the qualifications for the office they are seeking.” He says he has been trying for eight weeks to get documents from Hawaii.
In a statement just released, Bennett says: “First, I have been on the record since 2009 that I believe the president was born in Hawaii. I am not a birther. At the request of a constituent, I asked the state of Hawaii for a verification in lieu of a certified copy. We’re merely asking them to officially confirm they have the president’s birth certificate in their possession and are awaiting their response.”

You forget - they would be providing false information in Sheriff Joe’s jurisdiction. Then he gets standing to go after them.
If birth can’t be proved does this mean that Sheriff Joe can apprehend Obama under SB1070 the next time Obama shows up in Arizona?
Why can’t they say yes? They let Obama parade that fake document all over, while never daring to say “That computer generated forgery is NOT what we gave his courier.” They will just say they have it. AZ needed to ask for a true certified copy.
I would think they would at least have to refund the $5.
If they say don't have one, that would be very compelling supporting evidence for the findings of Sheriff Joe's investigation. (Although I find them compelling either way.)
Do you really think that they would sacrifice themselves for Obama? Especially now that he could lose reelection? The dems would let them hang for it.
Their best option is to do nothing and the ball goes back in Obama’s court and the SoS will then require BCs from everyone.
No BC. No ballot entry. Easy peasy.

No. He would have to be picked up for something else, like speeding or shoplifting or some other legit reason first. THEN, they could do a background check if he was suspected to be in the country illegally.
That is a really low bar to clear, and the point of the story is HDOH is balking at meeting even that.

This is exactly what I suspect. I think Obama was born in Canada, and Stanley Ann phoned in the fact of his birth to Grandma Dunham who filed an at home birth affidavit.
I'm guessing they'll wait as long as possible.
If they wait until the last minute they can still get him on the ballot, and minimize the time available to anyone attempting to mount a challenge before the election.

If this is really a conspiracy, they don’t want to make false submissions or assurances to an agent of elections for Obama that are not true. They all can lie to the public; the public has no standing in any court of law. Not so with the Secretary of State for Arizona. He has standing to qualify candidates.
They don’t know what Sheriff Joe has found on Obama and they don’t want to comit a crime. They will ignore the request.
What will probably happen is that Hawaii won’t respond and the SOS will put Obama on the ballot because he’s “not a birther” and has no proof Obammy is not qualified. But like I said, who knows what else Sherrif Joe will find.
Ken Bennett will soon be under investigation by the FBI, CIA, UN, NAACP, ACLU, IRS, MI5,MI6...et al.

The media will never report that which is why the Kenyan is able to get away with it. What I would be curious about is if the INS keeps records of every immigrant going back 50 years or if they keep records at all and see if a B. Hussien Obama came in on a student visa. And what about his social security number? When was that issued? What is the record on that? Then you got school records etc etc... I mention all this because all it takes is ONE government document showing him to be a foreigner and it will be all over for Barry.
