A Good Story Never Told

It is the way of Mankind to pass stories along through generations to teach future generations important lessons and morals that must never be forgotten. Although the story may change from time to time, the lesson does not change. However, what if people used the popularity of a story and subtly altered the meaning to meet their own agenda? What if these twisted stories began to be used to counter the original morals of the story completely? What if the original meaning of the story is as American as Johnny Tremain but the lesson is attacked by Americans themselves.

One story that has been subtly altered is the story of Robin Hood. Robin Hood in modern times is almost always described as “someone who steals from the rich and gives to the poor.” This description makes people like Obama or Pelosi modern day Robin Hoods. However, Robin Hood never stole from rich; he stole from the oppressing. Robin Hood never attacked wealthy merchants. He stole from corrupt leaders like the Sheriff of Nottingham who oppressed the people he was sworn to protect. Robin Hood believed that the money he was stealing belonged to the people and not the nobles. If Robin Hood was here today he would steal from the GSA or Eric Holder, not Bill Gates or Donald Trump. The story of Robin Hood is being convoluted to justify the redistribution of wealth, but redistribution is something that Robin Hood (real or not) would never stand for.

Another popular story is the classic story of Star Wars: A New Hope. Originally, in the Cantina scene, Han Solo shot Greedo after Greedo held Han at gun point. However, in the remastering of Star Wars: A New Hope, Lucas thought it would be better that Greedo shot first but missed before Han shot back. A simple change (which in no way ruined the entire saga for me) sends a bone chilling message that distorts the original meaning of the scene. What the new version shows is that even if someone threatens to kill you it is better to take the moral high ground and wait for him to attack first. What the original scene taught us is that Han Solo is not to be tread upon lightly and if someone points a gun at you, you have a right to defend yourself.

Such subtle changes in stories signifies the war on American Values. It may not seem like much, but it is a short trip from changing stories to changing history. the “Liberal Empire” of biased media, self-serving pundits and self-preserving unionists has declared war on what our Founders believed. Next they will try to sell the idea that Abraham Lincoln (the first Republican President) was a vampire slayer as opposed to a great man who lead our country through the Civil War and abolished slavery. By calling out the blatant lies, we can discredit the Liberal Empire on the grounds of perjury. Their ideas that American Exceptionalism is dead, that we are fighting an oil war, and that disagreeing with our president makes us a racist is as convoluted as their idea that Greedo shot first and that Robin Hood was a petty thief.

Great post, thank you very much, your blog is now (for the moment of course as the web is fluid) bookmarked #2 right under FreeRepublic.

Not only do I love your post and blog, I love the way you posted it, honestly by posting the whole thing and then just openly telling us to check you blog if we want, without even making a clickable link. No one can call you a blog pimp! (And you are advertising nothing anyway.)

You are relatively new to FR, welcome! I really like your style, hope you get a lot of attention as you are clearly a leader of men, and we can always use those.

Excellent post.

And along these same lines, I note that Hillary has learned this lesson well (including not only changing the story of what happened, but then blaming her lieutenant for doing it):
