Barack Obama's 2012 campaign: a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing

About Joseph Goebbels

Goebbels knew the power of controlling what people thought. Those that did not had to face the secret police. Those who were taken in by Goebbels were enthralled by colour film - rarely seen being used by politicians elsewhere as it was considered too unreliable. Films such as "The Eternal Jew" ( a black and white film) hammered home the anti-Semitic message of the party; "Triumph of the Will" portrayed the might of Hitler and Germany. The displays at Nuremburg - done in partnership with Albert Speer - are significant achievements even by today’s standards of size and complexities of organisation.

Barack Obama has a sketchy history with regard to elections and lying about his opponents is not a new tactic.

In 1995 he pounded Alice Palmer and drive her from a a race for the Illinois State Senate

In his first race for office, seeking a state Senate seat on Chicago's gritty South Side in 1996, Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition.

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

"That was Chicago politics," said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. "Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice."

He had disinformation about Hillary Clinton distributed in 2008:

With Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland nodding in agreement behind her, Clinton accused Obama of emulating the tactics of Karl Rove, President Bush's former political director who is reviled by Democrats.

Obama "is continuing to send false and discredited mailings with information that is not true to the voters of Ohio," Clinton said. Watch Clinton demand a 'real campaign'

One mailing says her health care proposal would force everyone to buy health insurance, regardless of ability to pay, a charge Clinton vehemently denied.

"Sen. Obama knows it is not true that my plan forces people to buy insurance even if they can't afford it," she said.

His treatment of Mitt Romney is worthy of Joseph Goebbels:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

And if Obama couldn't lie, he'd have little to say.

Obama has gone to great lengths making the legal appear to be unseemly.

WASHINGTON -- Hammering Mitt Romney for his tax havens and offshore bank accounts is pure political "gold" in the swing state of Ohio, a Democratic congressman who represents the state said Wednesday.

Rep. Tim Ryan said highlighting the way that Romney's private equity company Bain Capital drove American jobs overseas, as well as the fact that he has a Swiss bank account and accounts on tropical islands, is killing the GOP hopeful with rustbelt voters.

The man who spends limitless hours with George Clooney and the Hollywood elite claims Mitt Romney is out of touch.

Then Obama began to accuse Romney of being a pioneer of outsourcing.:

"Governor Romney's experience has been in owning companies that were called 'pioneers of outsourcing' - that's not my phrase - 'pioneers of outsourcing,'" Mr. Obama told the crowd. "My experience has been in saving the American auto industry.

In his first campaign event since the Supreme Court's decision a week ago to uphold his health care law, Mr. Obama also defended his sweeping changes to the system: "The law I passed is here to stay," he said. "It is going to make the vast majority of Americans more secure."

Obama's ad about the alleged Romney outsourcing was awarded the 4 Pinocchio maximum by the Washington Post.

‘CAN A CANDIDATE LIE HIS WAY TO THE PRESIDENCY?’

Barack Obama has developed quite a record as a liar. He lied for more than a decade about where he was born. He lied about many aspects of his life in his fictional “memoir.” He lied about his Chicago years and has activities and associations there. (Has anyone ever asked the question, what did Obama do when he lived in Chicago, and whom did he know there, since it seems that all of the activities and associations of which we have a record are now, as Nixon might say, inoperative.) To answer my own question, I think a candidate likely can lie his way into office, but I doubt that in incumbent president can lie his way to re-election. For the first time in his life, apparently, Barack Obama has a record.

Which doesn’t stop him from trying. The Obama campaign’s current Bain Capital smear, which many media outlets have taken up, ranks with Quemoy, Matsu and Checkers as absurd campaign “issues.” But it is all that a flailing, out-of-ammo campaign has to offer. Michael Ramirez comments:

Romney MUST go on OFFENSE NOW!

Attack Obama’s economic policies!
“These are not simply failed policies, they are INTENTIONALLY failed policies!”
“Obama’s policies are DESIGNED to destroy the American economy!”

“These are Communist tactics, DESIGNED to undermine capitalism and the American way of life.”

The way Romney is handling the Bain issue you should be scared. Romney is going to have everyone thinking he is guilty when he gets done with his media tour on the issue. Obama will win this election. As George Will said, GOP better just focus on House and Senate races, this one is lost.

Romney MUST go on OFFENSE NOW!

Somebody once said "don't pick a fight with someone that buys oil by the barrel"

That is Romney's problem, the media is going to endlessly repeat every lie about Romney. Romney returning fire is only going to be used as justification for Obama to defend himself from the scurrilous lies of his opponent.

Newt had it right when he attacked the lying media instead of the other opponents. Romney should stay on message and let surrogates like Newt, Rove, Perry, and the superpacs expose Obama.

Could be Romney is fixin to take a dive like Juan McLaim did in 2008..

You know... “take a dive”.. throw the election.. let Obama win.. not fight back like a wolverine..

Much like Boener is doing financially supporting Obama-care.. and many other Executive Branch projects.. when he could “JUST” defund Obamas projects.. The House of Reps is totally Republican..

Mitty has wanted to be POTUS since his dad's effort flamed out in 68. I don't think your theory is correct.

Soooo you’re thinking Myth wants to be President more than the Hildebeast did/does.. Might be you’re overlooking there are more forces at work here than personal desires..

There are some very smart connected people at work here than many think.. After all how did Myth even become the presidential candidate?.. Probably because their were so many spoilers running against him.. Planned of course.. The conservative vote was spread too thin.. so the RINOS won the primary..

Its quite simple really.. Myth could win the election but its a crap shoot.. Conservatives hate him.. After all running the inventor of Romney-care against the inventor of Obama-care is a cartoon.. This election is indeed a cartoon...

No hyperbole here, it is cartoon.. Myth is a cartoon figure.. as is Obama.. Wiley E. Coyote against the Road Runner.. WHo will win?.. Well Duuuugh..

I disagree. With Mitt Romney, you have a candidate who is not afraid of hard work which is something that Obama abhors. And with Obama, anyone of competence that he had working on his campaign four years ago has long since run for the hills. Just in the last couple of weeks, we now see the White House press corps(e) openly laughing at the lies that are being put forth by Carney, et al.

While it will take more than simply voting against Obama to win this election, I believe Mittens will be able to package himself as a competent, likable, and electable alternative to the current regime. On paper all Mitt has to do is win Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and New Hampshire to win. I think he will do much better than that.

You and I can talk about how much we like Romney over Obama but that does not relate to the prediction George Will made that Obama is going to win. Saying you like someone and predicting what will happen are two different things.

Romney is totally botching the Bain thing (with the buffoonish help of Hannity). So much so that Obama's political team must be having a grand old time over it. Romeny flat out handed them the issue.

As Krauthammer said, Romney's reply should have been to point out all stimulas money Obama paid to companies...overseas. That is direct U.S. government investment in foreign countries. You can't get any more "outsourcing" than that.

Why is Romney's team so inept? The answer is, the country club Republicans are running the party and they are blooming idiots. We have a McCain-like, Dole-like election all over again. Get used to four more years of Obama (mark this post so you can come back to it in November).
