I am a complete novice to posting a vanity so please forgive me for any and all mistakes. Veteran IDDs (Improvised Explosive Device Dogs) have served our Country and Marine Corps honorably. Due to the reduction in forces in Afghanistan, many of these wonderful dogs are eligible for retirement and adoption. The majority of the dogs are 3-7 year old pure breed Labrador Retrievers that are black, yellow, or chocolate. Spaying and neutering has already been done. They are highly trained, healthy, happy, and will make terrific pets or hunting buddies. The adoption process is not quick but the dog's health and temperament are checked by an DoD veterinarian and trainer. The dogs must be picked up in North Carolina. If you would like more information, please contact Robert.W.Little1@USMC.mil. His office number is 703-432-9841. The website is ak9i.com/adoption.php
WOOF! ... for your consideration.
I know of a disabled Marine. I have been trying to convince him to get a dog. I have sent this along to him. Thanks.
... consideration for your NC list?
Thank you. I need a hunting buddy. I think my neighbor has dynamite in his basement, C-4 in his car and ammonium nitrate in his underwear. But, I would like a nice hunting buddy and a fishing dog who would ride in my car without problem. I WILL e-mail this guy. (VN dogs were euthanized before they came home.).
This sounds like a wonderful program. What is especially nice is that the dogs temperament fits with a single person or a large family. Thank you so much for forwarding the information to your friend.
Thank you, Safetgiver! A hunting buddy that won’t drink all your beer and complain about the weather... what’s not to like?
Thank you, Joe, for all your helpful advice and tips! I can’t believe I was able to post this correctly without the moderator’s head exploding. (perhaps he’s napping?!)
Thanks! I passed on the information.
Thanks!
Thank you, Altariel!
Great job on the post and a very great cause!
((( Hugs))) Eaker!
Thanks mom! I passed the info to an old friend who was a USAF dog handler in Viet Nam. He and his wife just put their old dog to sleep about two months ago and was veeeeeeeeery interested in this program!
YooHoooo! The really nice aspect about this program is that the dogs are already obedience trained. No chewing, no potty training, no spaying/neutering. Sort of a “turn key” operation. Best wishes to your friends... I am glad that they are interested. Hugs to you!
Don’t forget.
Adopt a vet.
I don’t think anyone is running a North Carolina ping list right now. MitchellC used to do it, but I think he got overwhelmed with Real Life. However, I’ll link the thread to the North Carolina Forum board.
Anoreth might have been interested, but she has Piper, the retired show Husky, and we have her previous dog, Ash, the retired racing greyhound.
Thanks, Tax-Chick. I was thinking since the dogs are delivered to NC that may interest some of that state’s FReepers. I appreciate you linking it to the forum board. You’re a doll!
