Good grief, lets not stoop to melodrama.

He's more likely a normal, naive guy who thinks there's still a place for average citizens who might not share the media's worldview in todays government.

Before the booboo, after the primary:

‘Sarah Palin
August 8
Congratulations to Todd Akin on his win. And thank you, Sarah Steelman, for running an inspiring grassroots campaign. Sarah can take pride in being the underdog and mounting an uphill race; she faced the challenge of Beltway insiders and being outspent and underfunded, but she did not waver and her internal compass always pointed clearly in the direction of Constitutional principles.

It’s an honor to stand by Sarah and her vision for Missouri and the rest of this exceptional nation. I’ll continue to support those with such a compass, regardless of the Beltway political pundits’ predictions in any race.

Now, it’s time for everyone to come together and focus on electing a new Senator from the Show Me State. Winning this Missouri Senate race is a crucial step in reclaiming the leadership of the U.S. Senate and giving our next President a wise Congress to work with. Together we can do this. On to November!”

- Sarah Palin

My point on Akin is that if he decides to stay in, and it IS his choice since he won the primary, then the GOP needs to rehabilitate him, not keep knifing him. — He didn’t consort with call-girls while in office, like Spitzer — He didn’t text unwanted and bizarre pictures of his genitals , like Weiner — He didn’t engage in corrupt activities, like Torricelli. He verbally screwed up. Who the hell hasn’t?

The GOP (of which I am NO fan) is in the business of winning elections.... Romney is their horse in this race and he has been all about trying to get those fickle independent to vote for him. Akin's words created a firestorm of negativity via the left's biggest campaign donor, the JonStewart media. Reality is what it is and the GOP-e decided long ago they could win by seducing away from the libs sufficient numbers of the so called independents from voting liberal...

Missouri is a 'swing' state and there are sufficient numbers of so called independents checking the political winds.... and Akin blew in old man winter before the temperatures could catch up with him.

But take note on Gauthier: whatever was said to get him to drop out, by and large, was said privately by his Dem colleagues.

You didn’t have Obama issue a statement saying he was unfit, as did Romney about Akin.

Let’s take a lesson — don’t help the other side beat your guy down.

Akin made a mistake but the hysterical reaction by the GOP is way beyond the substantive effects of the mistake.

What is going on here is that Akin's won the primary with a minority of the votes and the GOP is seeking to reverse that decision.

The greatest damage is from “friendly fire”. With the stupid RNC and big supporters withholding campaign funds and asses like coulter smearing him of course he’s likely to loose to Mccatskill. That must be exactly what the GOPe wants.

Agreed. I don’t think this kind of reaction would have happened had one of the other two primary candidates had won.

I remember Rove saying the same thing about Christine McDonnell in 2010, and everyone said he was wrong.

Rove knows what he is talking about .

The only public person defending Akin is Mike Huckabee, who helped get him the nomination in the first place.

Do you not know Akin has one of the best conservative ratings in Congress? Maybe that explains the rabid GOPe bashing him???

The MO GOP surely has the dem cross-over vote count. What was the percentage dems voting in the GOP Primary?

No doubt you could really get behind number 3 Primary finisher.

These geniuses don't seem to understand that with their incessant badgering they are making their own prophecy self-fulfilling.

Or maybe they do.

Bingo !!!!!
Give that man a big cigar & two Kewpie dolls!

If you don’t win all you get to do is go home and bask in the warm glow of “your principles”!
If you win you get to actually implement “your principles” maybe not all at once, maybe incrementally but at least you are at the table participating in the conversation and influencing the policy toward “your principles”.

So you have to win! Why is this so hard to comprehend!

“You almost NEVER see the Left do that to their wounded.”

It almost makes you wonder who the real hypocrites are.

Normal is fine, naive is a killer. This is war and in war I don’t pick soldiers based on their personality, but on their competence.
