What a peaceful, beautiful picture. You educated me today reference the snow accumulation in Michigan. I have always thought that Michigan got a ton of snow EVERYWHERE in Michigan. Thanks, C!

Pennsylvania

Pros: Scenic Route 6, maple syrup, Ruthie's diner in Ligonier

Cons: "blue state" politics, floods, lousy highway signage

Washington

Pros: the eastern half of the state is quite nice and much different from the coast

Cons: way too much rain along the coast, volcanoes, wildfires, insane politicians, ridiculous regulations, political correctness, not enough jobs, possible tsunami threat along the coast, Seattle

Also on the 'con' side: far too many illegal immigrants, earthquakes (Cascadia Subduction Zone), and (at least on the west side) some of the worst traffic in the nation.

On the pro side, North-eastern Washington (north of Spokane) is quite a bit like northern Idaho. Eastern Washington is quite nicely conservative and votes as such in most elections.

It's too bad that just 7 counties in Western Washington negates ANY conservatism that may be voted on in the rest of the state.

I live in the middle of nowhere and only 5-6 transplants with the big city attitude can really screw things up for the people who like things the way they are.

Exactly what has ruined New Hampshire...arrogant SOB's from suburban New York City. One moves here; then you have all the relatives within a year or two. (No, I'm not talking 'minorities'.)

Live where ever you are happy...I’m happy with lots of space and few or no liberals. Go Utah!

He did get a couple of things right. Idaho is beautiful and California sucks. I would rate Utah an “A”, Salt Lake City is definitly not a “con” and it is not too cold in winter. We lived there 8 years and it never got below 20.

2 foot on the ground here in south central Michigan is a lot. Up in the Western UP the record snowfall for winter is around 36 feet.

“What doofus considers this a PRO?”

For one thing, the RAVENS play in Baltimore and that was left out. For a second, with so many high taxes, very few families have the income left over to purchase tickets (even in the nose bleed seats). I have the feeling the author had to say something NICE about Maryland and that is what he/she came up with. Sort of like being forced to say something nice and all you come up with is, “You don’t sweat much like most fat girls”.

I'm in Monmouth County. 2 acres 3,000 sq. f. house. Taxes are $12,000 a year.

Having said that, Ocean County taxes are much lower, especially in the senior communities.

Eastern Washington is similar to Northern Idaho, mostly conservative, with no state income tax and few regulations. Weather is not all that bad, gun laws are not all that restrictive, all in all, a good place to live. Only drawback is high unemployment, but most folks here are like the original settlers and deal with it.

I think California was the only F. I’m insulted. I think I’ll go down to Hollywood today to grade it myself.

My understanding is that North Idaho winters have helped chase many Californians back home...a beautiful thing.

I'll be vacationing in Couer d'Alene for a few days later this month. I also just wanted to check out the panhandle.

Plus, the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes is beckoning me.

Texas: It’s truly awful. Don’t even think about it. The remaining 56 sates grade out well ahead of Texas.

I thought the sarcasm tag was self evident. I was trying to discourage others from moving to Texas. I would never leave Texas.

This writer is clueless about Nashville proper

It is extremely liberal.....like Austin or Chapel Hill

The 9-13 county metro is opposite....heavily conservative

Dumbass author don’t know crap about Indiana. Just cause it’s next door doesn’t mean it’s the same. And Gary, Indiana can take all it’s blame from Chicago.
