It works that way in baseball but not politics - the swing voters typically don't decide until they start paying attention (which is around now) and I don't think they change their minds.
Thats why Romney needs to pull out the stops and soon.

I think the inflated news media polls could backfire. If Democratic voters think Obama is 5 or 6 points ahead on election day many may skip voting.
